Anti-vaccine Facebook groups have a new message for their community members: Don’t go to the emergency room, and get your loved ones out of intensive care units.

Consumed by conspiracy theories claiming that doctors are preventing unvaccinated patients from receiving miracle cures or are even killing them on purpose, some people in anti-vaccine and pro-ivermectin Facebook groups are telling those with Covid-19 to stay away from hospitals and instead try increasingly dangerous at-home treatments, according to posts seen by NBC News over the past few weeks.

The messages represent an escalation in the mistrust of medical professionals in groups that have sprung up in recent months on social media platforms, which have tried to crack down on Covid misinformation. And it’s something that some doctors say they’re seeing manifest in their hospitals as they have filled up because of the most recent delta variant wave.

“We were down to four Covid patients two months ago. In this surge, we’ve had 40 to 50 patients with Covid on four different ICU services, 97 percent of them unvaccinated,” said Wes Ely, an ICU doctor and professor of medicine at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. “We were making headway, and now we’re just losing really, really badly. There’s something that’s happening on the internet, and it’s dramatically increasing steam.”

Those concerns echo various local reports about growing threats and violence directed toward medical professionals. In Branson, Missouri, a medical center recently introduced panic buttons on employee badges because of a spike in assaults. Violence and threats against medical professionals have recently been reported in Massachusetts, Texas, Georgia and Idaho...........................................................

Believers in treating COVID-19 with ivermectin have reportedly branched out in terms of their recommended treatments for the virus, which now include inhaling food-grade hydrogen peroxide.

NBC News reporter Ben Collins, who follows multiple pro-ivermectin and anti-vaccine Facebook groups, writes on Twitter that many of these groups have now become "radicalized" and are pushing for even more exotic remedies for COVID-19.

The problem these groups are encountering, writes Collins, is that their followers have quickly learned that ivermectin alone won't do the trick.

As they’re home self-medicating, antivaxxers are furious that friends and family won’t be administered ivermectin at the hospital.

So they’ve developed directions on how to get loved ones out of ICUs: put them in hospice care, then get them the miracle cures from YouTube.

They’ve developed elaborate conspiracy theories about doctors and nurses in the process.

They believe ventilators and remdesivir are secretly drowning patients’ lungs, not COVID itself.

QAnon boards have begun calling hospitals to harass workers for not prescribing ivermectin.

A judge appointed by former President George W. Bush angrily shamed an accused MAGA rioter on Friday during a heated court hearing.

Politico reports that U.S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton "shouted" at defendant Anthony Mariotto shortly after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge related to his participation in the January 6th riots at the United States Capitol building.

"You've disgraced this country in the eyes of the world and my inclination would be to lock you up, but since the government isn't asking me to do that... I won't," said Walton, referring to sentencing guidelines that did not request prison time for Mariotto, who pleaded guilty to a single charge of illegally parading or protesting in the Capitol.

A CNN panel on Friday openly laughed at Cyber Ninjas, the vote "auditors" praised by former President Donald Trump who failed to prove that President Joe Biden stole the 2020 election.

Conservative Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) heckled House Democrats on the steps of the Capitol on Friday, leading to several heated verbal altercations with veteran Democrats that were in full view of the assembled media.

Dozens of Democrats were assembled on the Capitol steps preparing to hold a news conference on their efforts to help women when Greene, known as MTG, began shouting at them for having just passed legislation to protect abortion rights, a response to a recent Texas law banning abortions.

Kevin Byrd's ordeal began in the parking lot of a bar near Houston, where he says a federal Homeland Security agent pointed a gun at him and threatened to “put a bullet through his f---ing skull.”

Byrd had gone to the bar early in the morning on Feb. 2, 2019, to find more information about a car crash that left his former girlfriend – and the mother of his child – in the hospital.

Byrd says that as he tried to leave the parking lot, agent Ray Lamb, the father of a driver involved in the car accident, jumped out of a truck with a gun in his hand. According to a lawsuit that Byrd would later file, Lamb attempted to smash his car window and threatened to "blow his head off.”

“I thought I was going to lose my life,” Byrd said.



Now, Byrd's odyssey has taken him all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court in a case that challenges the legal protections that shield federal law enforcement officers from civil liability. The court will soon decide whether it will hear Byrd's case.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) is firing a warning shot at progressives' hopes of using a sweeping social spending bill to expand Medicare, arguing Democrats should first focus on shoring up the program.

Manchin, leaving the Capitol after a vote on Thursday, was asked about expanding Medicare to cover hearing, vision and dental, something included in House Democrats' $3.5 trillion plan and being championed in the Senate by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

"I'll say this about Medicare: We need to stabilize it. By 2026, you understand the trust fund is going to be insolvent. ...I want to make sure we are stabilizing what we have before we start going down this expansion role," Manchin said.

Senate Democrats haven't unveiled their version of the sweeping spending bill, amid high-profile haggling over not only how big to go but disagreements on key provisions including clean energy, how to pay for the bill and how to address competing healthcare wishes. ...................................
