Trump furiously demands Mueller not appear before House Judiciary Committee in Twitter meltdown

Source: raw story

05 May 2019 at 14:17 ET

Reacting to news that special counsel Robert Mueller has made “tentative” plans to appear before a House Committee, President Donald Trump went on a furious Twitter rampage demanding Mueller not show up.

On Twitter, Trump ranted, “After spending more than $35,000,000 over a two year period, interviewing 500 people, using 18 Trump Hating Angry Democrats & 49 FBI Agents – all culminating in a more than 400 page Report showing NO COLLUSION – why would the Democrats in Congress now need Robert Mueller” before adding, …”to testify. Are they looking for a redo because they hated seeing the strong NO COLLUSION conclusion? There was no crime, except on the other side (incredibly not covered in the Report), and NO OBSTRUCTION. Bob Mueller should not testify. No redos for the Dems!”

Dear @realDonaldTrump: We support diplomacy. But facts also matter. Under your strategy,

Kim Jong Un has NOT:
-Eliminated any nukes
-Eliminated any missiles

North Korea HAS:
-Increased nuclear fuel
-Hidden missile bases
-Just launched a volley of projectiles

Anything in this very interesting world is possible, but I believe that Kim Jong Un fully realizes the great economic potential of North Korea, & will do nothing to interfere or end it. He also knows that I am with him & does not want to break his promise to me. Deal will happen!

Russian Embassy: Trump Initiated Putin Call, And It Was 90 Minutes, Not 60

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-initiated-putin-call_n_5cce0caae4b0548b735b03fd

Statement says Putin suggested easing sanctions against North Korea the day before Kim Jong Un’s regime tested more rocket launchers.

The Russian embassy in Washington said that it was President Donald Trump who initiated the call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and that the conversation lasted 90 minutes.

Trump said Friday that the call ― which sparked controversy in part because he acknowledged he did not raise the issue of election interference with Putin ― was “probably more than an hour.”

Putin urged Trump to “ease the sanction pressure” on North Korea as that nation makes a “good-faith fulfillment of its commitment,” apparently to denuclearize, the Russian embassy said on Facebook.

The phone conversation occurred the day before Kim Jong Un’s regime fired a barrage of unidentified projectiles into the Sea of Japan. A North Korean statement on Saturday said the test of “large-caliber long-range” rocket launchers and “tactical guided weapons” was intended to “increase the combat ability” of the country.

Putin also “underscored” that no nation should interfere in the politics of Venezuela, according to the Facebook statement. .........................................

I guess we will begin to see the sanctions being lifted against N Korea soon. Anything for Putin.

Trump arrived for another day of leisure at taxpayer expense at his Sterling, VA golf resort. This is his 249th day at a Trump property out of 834 days as so-called president. That’s 30% of his so-called presidency. Remember when he said he “wouldn’t have time for golf?” I do.

Nature is in freefall and the planet’s support systems are so stretched that we face widespread species extinctions and mass human migration unless urgent action is taken. That’s the warning hundreds of scientists are preparing to give, and it’s stark.

The last year has seen a slew of brutal and terrifying warnings about the threat climate change poses to life. Far less talked about but just as dangerous, if not more so, is the rapid decline of the natural world. The felling of forests, the over-exploitation of seas and soils, and the pollution of air and water are together driving the living world to the brink, according to a huge three-year, U.N.-backed landmark study to be published in May.

The study from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform On Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), expected to run to over 8,000 pages, is being compiled by more than 500 experts in 50 countries. It is the greatest attempt yet to assess the state of life on Earth and will show how tens of thousands of species are at high risk of extinction, how countries are using nature at a rate that far exceeds its ability to renew itself, and how nature’s ability to contribute food and fresh water to a growing human population is being compromised in every region on earth.

Nature underpins all economies with the “free” services it provides in the form of clean water, air and the pollination of all major human food crops by bees and insects. In the Americas, this is said to total more than $24 trillion a year. The pollination of crops globally by bees and other animals alone is worth up to $577 billion. ................................

Donald Trump Goes On Retweet Rampage Against De-Platforming Of Far-Right Extremists

Source: HUFF POST

05/04/2019 08:58 am ET Updated 7 hours ago

.............................................

Donald Trump went on yet another wild retweet rampage Saturday morning.

The president lashed out on Twitter at the de-platforming earlier this week of a number of far-right extremists by Facebook and Facebook-owned Instagram.

He also attacked the media, shared a tweet with an Islamophobic caption and promoted a Trump Organization-owned golf course.

Trump began the spree at 9 a.m. when he shared a video from far-right conspiracy-monger Alex Jones’ Infowars website, which itself has been banned or suspended from several social media platforms.....................................

The retweet swarm is the same tactic that Trump deployed Wednesday when he hit out at the International Association of Fire Fighters’ endorsement of Democratic presidential hopeful and former Vice President Joe Biden.

Trump also shared Saturday a tweet from his son, Eric Trump, promoting the Trump National Golf Club Philadelphia and another post with a video captioned: “The ‘elite’ proclaim America must submit to Islam or else!!!”...................

AUSTIN, Texas — Presidential candidate Julián Castro added a little more certainty to his participation in the Democratic Party’s first debates by meeting a requirement Friday of 65,000 unique donors.

His campaign hopes hitting the threshold also will mean additional respect for Castro as a serious contender for the 2020 Democratic nomination.

“We’ve said this over and over again, he did not enter this race as a front-runner. We knew that we would be fighting not just for (media) coverage, but legitimacy,” Maya Rupert, Castro’s campaign manager, said. “Long shot or not, he has entered the top tier here.”

Hours earlier, there was a stream of tweets from various individuals calling for help to get Castro to the 65,000-mark, including from actress and #MeToo activist Alyssa Milano, former "West Wing" cast member Bradley Whitford and comedian Cristela Alonzo, who pledged to match contributions up to $500.

Rupert said hitting the 65,000 goal puts Castro among candidates who are getting a lot more attention...................................................
