Donald Trump has yet to concede the 2020 presidential election despite losing to former vice president Joe Biden.
Although concession speeches are not required, it has been a tradition for more than 100 years for the runner-up to acknowledge their defeat and offer words of encouragement to the victor.
We looked at presidential concession speeches from the past 60 years and found four elements that these addresses tend to have.

Trump's Mar-a-Lago neighbors are taking legal action to try to force him to live elsewhere

President Donald Trump's Florida neighbors are taking action meant to stop him from moving permanently to his Mar-a-Lago beach resort, according to a Washington Post report.
Neighbors reportedly wrote a letter to Palm Beach authorities and the US Secret Service saying Trump had no legal right to live there full time, citing legal precedent from a 1993 agreement Trump signed.
According to The Post, the letter says Palm Beach authorities should promptly notify Trump he is not allowed to live at Mar-a-Lago to avoid an "embarrassing situation" in which a former president had to be evicted.

The president is said to be planning to move to Mar-a-Lago permanently when he leaves the White House on January 20. Some of his neighbors, however, have written a letter to Palm Beach authorities and the US Secret Service saying that Trump has no legal right to live there full time, The Post reported.

The Post said it obtained a copy of the letter, in which it says the neighbors mentioned an agreement that Trump signed in 1993 when he sought to turn what had been a residence into a private club.

Under the terms of the agreement, no guest is permitted to stay at the club for more than "three non-consecutive seven day periods" during one year.

Some Republicans Jump Ship As Electors Lock In Trump’s Loss

President Donald Trump scolded Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Twitter early Wednesday morning for finally acknowledging that President-elect Joe Biden won the 2020 White House race.

The rebuke from the president came more than 14 hours after the Kentucky Republican delivered a speech on the Senate floor Tuesday in the aftermath of the Electoral College’s vote formalizing Biden’s victory.

“Our country has officially a president-elect and a vice president-elect,” McConnell said. “The Electoral College has spoken. So today, I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden.”

Trump shared a news report on McConnell’s remarks in a tweet posted shortly after midnight. In an accompanying message, he wrote: “Mitch, 75,000,000 VOTES, a record for a sitting President (by a lot). Too soon to give up. Republican Party must finally learn to fight. People are angry!”..............................

Former Houston police captain accused of violent attempt to prove election conspiracy was hired by GOP activist's group

Mark Aguirre is accused of running a man off the road and threatening him at gunpoint. The ex-cop was hired as a private investigator by a group whose CEO is GOP activist Steven Hotze.

HOUSTON — A former Houston police captain was arrested after allegedly running a man off the road and threatening him at gunpoint — what prosecutors say was part of an elaborate attempt to find evidence for a false conspiracy theory of widespread voter fraud in Harris County.

Mark Aguirre was working on behalf of a powerful Republican megadonor’s group to investigate unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud when, in October, he allegedly pulled a gun on a man described by the Harris County district attorney’s office as an “innocent and ordinary” air conditioner repairman.

Aguirre was arrested Tuesday, according to the Harris County district attorney’s office.

Prosecutors say Aguirre’s election fraud claims were baseless and that he was paid $266,400 by the group Liberty Center for God and Country, whose CEO is prominent Texas right-wing activist Steven Hotze.

Hotze was among a group of Republicans who unsuccessfully sued to have nearly 127,000 Harris County ballots tossed out this year. He was also among Republicans who tried — and failed — to stop Gov. Greg Abbott from extending early voting during the coronavirus pandemic, a suit for which Aguirre had provided an affidavit, stating that he was involved in an investigation into a “wide-ranging and fraudulent ballot harvesting scheme” in Harris County...........................................

Senate Proposal Would Retroactively Shield Corporations From All COVID Lawsuits

Source: dailyposter.com

Draft bill obtained by The Daily Poster would shield health care execs, limit enforcement of the Civil Rights Act and empower the Attorney General to punish workers and customers who sue corporations.

Dec 15

This report was written by Andrew Perez, Julia Rock and David Sirota

Draft legislation circulating in the U.S. Senate would shield employers and health care industry executives from legal consequences when their business decisions injure or kill workers, customers and patients during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The unprecedented proposal to gut legal protections — which is being depicted as moderate compromise legislation and potentially attached to badly-needed state and local aid — follows a Harvard study showing a surge in worker COVID deaths following their requests for government regulators’ help.

The Huffington Post reported on Monday that Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin is joining GOP senators in backing corporate immunity legislation. A draft of the legislative language obtained by The Daily Poster includes provisions that would:

Shield companies from all coronavirus-related actions retroactively — for at least one year, or until the pandemic is over — except in cases of “gross negligence.” Most coronavirus-related lawsuits would be forced into federal courts, which are considered more friendly to business interests.

Restrict the enforcement of longstanding laws such as the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 when companies say they are attempting to comply with governments’ coronavirus guidance. ......................................

Attorney general probes valuation of Trump’s Seven Springs

President Donald Trump’s company can’t use the attorney-client privilege to shield an engineer’s documents from a property-valuation probe by New York state’s top lawyer, a judge ruled.

The Trump Organization failed to provide evidence to justify extending the privilege to communications between the company’s former land-use lawyer and an engineer whose work was used to appraise a property at the center of the probe, state Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron ruled Tuesday in Manhattan.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking the documents as part of an investigation into whether the president’s real-estate business falsely reported property values to get loans or tax benefits. The company has said the probe is politically motivated and denies wrongdoing.

The investigation has emerged as one of the biggest potential threats to Trump after he leaves office in January following his election loss to President-elect Joe Biden. He and his Manhattan-based business also face an active criminal probe by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance.................................................

who holds hearing tomorrow on election "irregularities."
He said he acknowledges Biden's victory. Asked if the election was legitimate, he said, "Yes."
Contends there were "irregularities" but hasn't seen anything that would alter the outcome 1/2

Johnson said doesn’t have plans to object when EC votes are tabulated by Congress. “Something would have to surface that would call into question the legitimacy of the election.”
Said there are “legitimate questions” about admin. of the election and his hearing will explore them
