Cops screw up AGAIN ...

http://www.policestateusa.com/2013/police-shoot-therapy-dog-as-they-raid-wrong-home-looking-for-man-with-expired-vehicle-registration/

LEANDER, TX — Leander Police went to the home of James and Renata Simmons acting on a warrant for unpaid vehicle registration on June 17, 2013. The warrant, however, was for a completely different town – Cedar Park, TX, and was for a person named Bradly Neal Simpson, someone the Simmons family, who have lived at this address for the past nine years, have never even heard of.

snip

Officers walking around the rear of the property saw Vinny, a German Shepherd therapy dog, running free within his fence along with another German Shepherd. Police fired at Vinny, firing 3 times with one bullet hitting him in the back of his neck.
Lt. Partin also tells us that his department’s first line of defense against animals is deadly force, rather than less-lethal alternatives. A recent Justice Department report, titled “The Problem of Dog-Related Incidents and Encounters” which is available for download as a PDF document from the National Canine Research Council (NCRC), makes it clear that only insufficiently trained officers use deadly force as a first line of defense.

snip

Renata Simmons had a different view of what the dogs were doing. “The dogs always do the same thing, they’re like ‘hey somebody’s here’ and they go running up to the gate like ‘hey pet me.’ Well they didn’t get pet this time, they got shot.” Simmons is a professional dog trainer for “Find. Love. Train.” Mrs. Simmons says there were people coming and going from the property every day, and Vinny has never showed signs of aggression, but would go up to meet new people just like any dog would.
During this shooting, the Simmons’s terminally ill six-year-old grandchild was playing just around the corner. Renata worries what would have happened if the child had gotten in the path of the bullets. Police claim not to have seen the child.

The department has since announced “dog behavior training” for their officers to prevent future incidents. It’s too bad the officers missed this article from “Law Enforcement Today” warning officers not to shoot dogs or else be possibly subject of a lawsuit.
The family has set up a Facebook Page for support, where they are also accepting donations towards Vinny’s vet bills the city is refusing to pay, which can be found here: Justice for Vinny.

I hope the sue the crap outta the town ... the police force ...
and these wannabe's

too bad cops have immunity, it might make them more cautious
if they could get sued for doing stupid shit.

ie: going to the wrong address kicking in the door and shooting people
you know stuff like that.

Senate to kill Monsanto protection act. !!!

http://www.trueactivist.com/victory-senate-to-kill-monsanto-protection-act-amid-outrage/

In a major victory brought upon by serious activism and public outrage, new legislation changes will shut down the Monsanto Protection Act rider that granted Monsanto protection from legal action and was set to renew on September 30th.

snip

This unprecedented move shows the true power of the anti-GMO, anti-Monsanto movement, and how elected officials are now being forced to side with the concerned population over the money-spewing Monsanto. After all, it was Monsanto who purchased its way into the initial Senate spending bill legislation via a rider dubbed the ‘Monsanto Protection Act’ through Senator Roy Blunt.

snip

Officially labeled the Farmer Assurance Provision under Sec. 735 of the Senate Continuing Resolution spending bill, Senator Blunt was conveniently given over $64,000 by Monsanto before he handed the biotech corporation the ability to write its own legislation for the Monsanto Protection Act. And as I told you back in March here on the frontlines of anti-GMO activism, the financial payload dished out by Monsanto was enough to secure a major victory for corporations over both the public and even the federal government.

snip

It was last March that Obama signed the initial Senate spending bill into law, subsequently bringing the Monsanto Protection Act rider into legal validity as well. But the rider only extended until September 30th of this year, and it was up to Monsanto to pull another slippery legislative trick out of their sleeves in order to pass a Monsanto Protection Act 2.0 renewal. Once again, however, Monsanto executives underestimated the power of the alternative news community and the intelligence of those who do not want to eat contaminated food.

And as a result, Senators are being forced to respond in a big way. As one Senator put it:

“That provision will be gone,” said Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) told Politico.

really stupid question IRT "Obamacare" and how it effects Tricare.

retired Military here,
what changes am I going to see
in regard to Tricare coverage.
I have standard, so that if the Dr. is not
a tricare provider, I pay whatever tricare
does not.
example: Dr charges 75 dollars for X-rays. Tricare pays 25. I pay 50.
(believe me, I look for providers, they agree to charge what
Tricare pays )

I have looked online and there are all kinds of stuff out there.
some saying it will not effect Tricare at all, some saying only service related
injuries will be covered by Tricare, some saying Tricare isn't a recognized
insurance. (I know for a fact that is wrong.)
would like some info, thanks.

crazy cop puts whole family on the ground and threatens them w/ taser

Aaron Tatkowski told Toledo News Now that he returned home on Sunday to find his daughter-in-law, Cassandra Meyers, pulled over in a traffic stop on their street by a Washington Township Police officer. Tatkowski witnessed the officer speaking to her in a way that upset him, so he questioned the officer.

“He hollered for me to get back in my truck, so I got back in my truck,” Tatkowski told reporters. “Next thing you know, I’m yanked out of the truck and it made my girlfriend say a few things. He yanked her out of the truck.”
Tatkowski, his girlfriend, and his 14-year-old son were all ripped from the vehicle and made to lay down in the street. Tatkowski began to fear for the safety of his family and called out to a witness to begin recording.

The video begins with the encounter already in progress. An adult male, an adult female, and a boy are laying face down in the street with a heavyset officer pointing his taser at them, screaming.
“Sir, get off the phone,” said the officer. “This is not the city of Toledo and they’re already on their way. Now hang up the phone.”
“What are you afraid of?” the male witness challenged.
The officer snatched the man’s phone and chucked it to the ground.
“Go! Get out! I don’t need you people…” he barked.
“What you’re saying is you don’t need witnesses,” retorted the neighbor, fetching his phone from the ground.

Washington Township is found in Lucas County, Ohio, in the vicinity of Toledo.

can someone explain to me what decertification means and why someone would vote that way.

http://www.jsonline.com/news/education/kenosha-teachers-union-is-decertified-b9997068z1-223549741.html

The union representing Kenosha teachers has been decertified and may not bargain base wages with the district, but teachers in Milwaukee and Janesville met the state's Aug. 30 deadline to apply for re-certification, a state agency representative says.
snip

Because unions are limited in what they can do even if they are certified, the new status of Kenosha's teachers union — just like the decertification of many other teachers unions in the state that did not or could not pursue the steps necessary to maintain certification in the new era of Act 10 — may be a moral blow more than anything else.

snip

To continue as the recognized bargaining unit in the district, 51% of the union's eligible membership must vote in favor of re-certification, according to the controversial Act 10 legislation passed in 2011.
With contracts that were in place through the end of June, teachers in the three large southeastern Wisconsin districts were protected the longest from the new legislation, which limits collective bargaining, requires unions to hold annual votes to be recognized as official entities, and mandates that teachers and other public employees pay more out-of-pocket for their health care and retirement costs.

more at the link.
they could not get 50 percent of the teachers to vote for union protection?
why.

IBM moves 110k retirees off healthcare plan

International Business Machines Corp. plans to move about 110,000 retirees off its company-sponsored health plan and instead give them a payment to buy coverage on a health-insurance exchange, in a sign that even big, well-capitalized employers aren't likely to keep providing the once-common benefits as medical costs continue to rise.

The move, which will affect all IBM retirees once they become eligible for Medicare, will relieve the technology company of the responsibility of managing retirement health-care benefits. IBM said the growing cost of care makes its current plan unsustainable without big premium increases.

IBM's shift is an indication that health-insurance marketplaces, similar to the public exchanges proposed under President Barack Obama's health-care overhaul, will play a bigger role as companies move coverage down the path taken by many pensions, paying employees and retirees a fixed sum to manage their own care.

In notices signed by Chief Health Director Kyu Rhee, IBM has told retirees in recent weeks that to keep receiving coverage, they will need to pick a plan offered through Extend Health, a large private Medicare exchange run by New York-based Towers Watson & Co.

this maybe a little late to the discussion

but with the increased war drums beating, both here and in England.
can someone explain to me how is it in our national interest to go to war
with Syria? yes the leader of that country based upon his past behavior
is a few bricks shy of a full load. are the rebels any better? will this
result in better relations between our 2 countries. is it worth the blood
and treasure that will be expended.
can we be sure that the rebels themselves did not use the chem weaps
to drag us into this war ?

please tell me that this is a bad dream and I am going to wake up and go to work soon.
