good news she is found, sad news it took 9 years.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/07/connie-mccallister-found-mexico_n_4232063.html?

A Wisconsin woman who went missing more than nine years ago has been found living in Mexico with her three children.
Connie McCallister, 26, was found after a church missionary in Mexico reported seeing her to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children three months ago, according to the Wausau Daily Herald.
“We have confirmed, through conversations on Skype, that this is really Connie, and she did ask for help in getting home,” Wausau Police Capt. Greg Hagenbucher told the newspaper. “But she won’t come back without her children.”

McCallister, who vanished in August 2004 at age 16, said she was drugged and taken to Mexico against her will by her then-boyfriend, her aunt Florence Volzka told the Associated Press.
Judy Weise, a family friend, told the Journal Sentinel that McCallister had started dating the 22-year-old man -- who is now wanted on sexual assault charges against a different alleged victim -- when she was an honor-roll student at Athens High School.
"He told her everything that she needed to hear, and she got involved with him," Weise said. "They went to a party in Milwaukee and she called her sister and said, 'He won't bring me back,' and that's the last anyone heard from her, until Sept. 15."

In Mexico, McCallister managed to escape her abductor years ago, but without knowledge of the Spanish language, she was unable to contact her family in the U.S., according to the International Business Times. To survive, she worked as a field hand, which is where she met her husband.

"We're just so excited because this story will be a happy one," Weise said. "Not many families can have this happy ending."

I am glad she has been found and will be coming home.
the part about unable to contact her family, not sure
about that part.
I also hope they catch the sh*tbird that did this and he get to go
to a Mexican prison for a while, and then an American prison
or vise-a-versa, doesn't matter.

police taze and arrest father as he tries to save 3 yr old son in fire.

http://www.policestateusa.com/2013/police-tased-arrested-father-as-he-tried-to-save-his-3-year-old-son-from-house-fire/

LOUISIANA, MISSOURI – Police tased and arrested a desperate father as he tried to kick in the front door of his house to save his 3-year-old child from burning alive. As toddler was taken to the morgue, his father was taken to jail for trying to save him.
On the morning of November 1st, Ryan and Cathy Miller woke up in the middle of the night, overwhelmed with smoke. Their house was ablaze. They were forced out through back door, but their son, Riley, was still inside.

Step-father Ryan Miller circled the house to attempt to enter in through the front door, while Cathy placed a 9-1-1 call. The call was recorded at 12:58 a.m., and first-responders promptly arrived at the scene at 1:03 a.m.
As Ryan attempted to break through the locked front door, he was restrained by the very police officers that were called to help. Ryan was tased three times, then arrested. Ryan was forced to watch as the fire consumed the home.

By the time the fire department finally arrived on the scene the fire had become too hot for them to enter. The family was shocked by the actions of the officers.
Later, when the fire was brought under control, Riley was found laying dead at the doorway of his room.

“He tried to get back in the house to get the baby,” grandmother Lori Miller told KHQA. “They took my son to jail because he tried to save his son.”

Make-A-Wish Foundation Turns San Francisco Into Gotham City For Batman-Loving Kid

In his battle against leukemia, five-year-old Miles finds inspiration in the strength of superheroes -- Batman, in particular. Next month, all of San Francisco is getting in on a stunt that enlists Miles’ help to save the city.
On November 15, the Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation is turning San Francisco into Gotham City, and when trouble strikes that morning, the city’s police chief will call upon Miles -- aka Batkid -- to leap into action for a day of noble crime-fighting around town.

His first act of duty will be rescuing a damsel in distress from the cable car tracks in Nob Hill, followed by arresting the Puzzler for robbing a downtown vault. Miles will then refuel at Burger Bar directly above Union Square, but mid-lunch, he’ll get a call from the police chief directing him to look out the window. He’ll see a group of volunteers crying out for his help to save San Francisco Giants mascot, Lou Seal, who’s been kidnapped by Mr. Penguin in a convertible getaway car.

In a wild chase, Miles will free Lou Seal at AT&T Park and head to City Hall, where Mayor Ed Lee will thank him for his heroism and hand him the key to the city. Hundreds of adoring San Franciscans will be there to cheer -- and most likely hold back tears.
Fans of Batman and all things utterly heartwarming are encouraged to watch and thank Batboy in action, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation has listed the times and locations at which Miles can be spotted in his acts of fearlessness.

really stupid question.

why does Senator Sanders who is an independent sound more like a Democrat then many Democrats do?

this can not be correct. CBS reports that on 1 Oct. 6 people were able

to sign up for ACA.

I understand they had/have problems with the site, which is an entirely different discussion.
but how much money was poured into this website, and 6 people
were able to sign up for insurance.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18563_162-57610328/obamacare-early-enrollment-numbers-very-small-documents-show/

(CBS News) WASHINGTON - For 31 days now, the Obama administration has been telling us that Americans by the millions are visiting the new health insurance website, despite all its problems.
But no one in the administration has been willing to tell us how many policies have been purchased, and this may be the reason: CBS News has learned enrollments got off to an incredibly slow start.

Early enrollment figures are contained in notes from twice-a-day "war room" meetings convened within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services after the website failed on Oct. 1. They were turned over in response to a document request from the House Oversight Committee.
The website launched on a Tuesday. Publicly, the government said there were 4.7 million unique visits in the first 24 hours. But at a meeting Wednesday morning, the war room notes say "six enrollments have occurred so far."

They were with BlueCross BlueShield North Carolina and Kansas City, CareSource and Healthcare Service Corporation.
By Wednesday afternoon, enrollments were up to "approximately 100." By the end of Wednesday, the notes reflect "248 enrollments" nationwide.
The health care exchanges need to average 39,000 enrollees a day to meet the goal of seven million by March 1. The war room notes give a glimpse into some of the reasons customers had problems:

"Direct enrollment (signing up directly on an insurer's website) is not working for any issuers."
"Experian" credit reporting agency is "creating confusion with credit check information."
"Issuer phone numbers are not appearing correctly on the Pay Now page."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/28/trayvon-zimmerman-halloween-costume_n_4170528.html

Some Halloween costumes tend to toe the line between "offensive" and "provocative," but these George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin costumes leave that line so far back in the rearview mirror it might as well have never existed.

snip

A group costume features a man dressed as Martin, wearing blackface and a blood-stained hoodie, and a man portraying Zimmerman, wearing a shirt that reads "Neighborhood Watch." In a photo uploaded to the Facebook account of Caitlin Cimeno, the woman in the picture, the man portraying Zimmerman has fashioned a gun out of his right hand and has pointed it at the man dressed as Martin.
Cimeno's Facebook account has since been deleted, but the photo has gone viral and elicited widespread condemnation. (Per Gawker, one of the men chose to set the photo as his Facebook profile picture before then swapping it out and setting his profile to "private.&quot

snip

According to the Smoking Gun, the men in the Martin and Zimmerman costumes are residents of Florida, where the Zimmerman case took place.
The Stir's Lisa Fogarty takes particular issue with the pair "choosing to make light of the murder of a 17-year-old child." She also adds that the men, aged 22 and 25, aren't naive children who made a regrettable choice: "[T]hese men are too old to not know or understand that it's also disrespectful to the family that is grieving for Trayvon."

I am disgusted.

police smell meth - raid house, kill 80 year old man find no meth.

www.policestateusa.com/2013/police-kill-80-year-old-man-in-his-bed-after-claiming-his-house-smelled-like-meth/

LOS ANGELES, CA — A raid team was sent to break into a home after allegedly smelling chemicals outside the building. Instead of the the meth lab they were hoping to find, deputies barged in on a sleeping 80-year-old man with poor vision. The retired engineer was shot to death while still in his bed, as the invaders searched the home hoping to enforce prohibition laws.

At around 7:30 a.m., prohibition-enforcement agents barged into the ranch through an unlocked front door. They quickly made their way to the master bedroom where Eugene Mallory, 80, resided. Hearing unwelcome strangers in his house, the octogenarian had allegedly picked up a pistol. Police saw the armed homeowner and shot him dead, fearing for their safety. Six rounds struck and killed him while still in bed.

Disappointed deputies found no meth on the property, but they did confiscate Mallory’s two pistols. In another part of the property — a trailer where his wife’s 22-year-old son lives — police confiscated a small amount of medical marijuana from the son’s bedroom. They touted this as a successful outcome to their aggressive raid. They had cleared the streets of some life-destroying plants.
“The truth of the matter is it was a narcotics search warrant. And what did they find on the premises? They found marijuana and they found a full grow operation that was producing the marijuana on site,” gloated sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore.

This “grow operation” that the killers were touting could have been as simple as a pot and a watering can. Instead of admitting their mistake and begging the family’s forgiveness, the department redoubled its efforts to make criminals out of the family.
“There was a drug operation that was certainly going on in this house,” Whitmore declared.
