Unfortunately today in the U.S., Abraham Lincolns government of the people, by the people and for the people is no longer a reality. If you need proof, look at our dysfunctional Republican Congress, which repeatedly represents the corporate oligarchs and the billionaire bankers on Wall Street and not the American people. As New Jerseys Democratic Senator Bill Bradley said 30 years ago, both our democracy and election process are broken. The majority of Americas low information voters i.e., the issues uneducated electorate -- is bought by the unending pressure of paid media exposure, again, funded by corrupting, unlimited special-interest money and produced by the slickest political scientists money can buy.
With mind-numbing regularity, the Republicans trot out the same tired freak show of dysfunctional personalities to present their case: Ann Coulter spewing venom like a cobra on speed; Sarah Palin struggling to construct a coherent sentence; Donald Trump, whose sole agenda is generating publicity for his tawdry TV shows and, most despicable of all, Rush Limbaugh hurling insults and lies like the right-wing hate machine that he is. Limbaughs latest big lie and outrage is that President Obama and the Democrats invented the Ebola epidemic so that it would come to our country as historys righteous vengeance for slavery. The Republicans learned one lesson long ago: If you say something outrageous and offensive enough, you will attract attention and generate publicity. What they havent figured out is that, contrary to the popular cliche, not all publicity is good publicity.
If the Republicans want to have a chance to reach Americas independent voters, they must stop: fear-mongering, encouraging hate and greed, insulting their intelligence, encouraging their followers to bully the independent voters for having different views, believing their own rhetoric instead of the facts, and spending billionaires money to mislead the public (for example, the right-wing extremist billionaire Koch brothers have had almost twice as many TV commercials for this falls election campaign as the Republican Party).
Thankfully, my fellow Democrats know exactly why they vote for their party candidates. They want health care for all, a rise in the minimum wage, equal pay for equal work, a serious attempt to address climate change (by sharp contrast, the Tea Party in the GOP denies climate change, denies evolution, and is generally anti-science), an extension of unemployment benefits, the preserving and protecting of Social Security, Medicare and our public schools, a millionaires tax for the rich (we believe the rich should be morally obligated to pay their fair share), the improved access to voting for all of our eligible citizens, and infrastructure repair to our bridges, tunnels and highways that would create tens of thousands of good-paying jobs.

RIGHT-WING Propaganda A Danger To The Nation

Portman To Chuck Todd: EVEN YOU SAID Grimes 'Disqualified Herself'
Keep pounding this rethuglican 'shill' until they hopefully can his sorry vertebrae ass back into the pond.....
Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) on Sunday brought up "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd's controversial comment that Democratic candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes "disqualified herself" when she wouldn't say whether she voted for President Obama. The NBC host asked Portman whether Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was a problem for Republicans.
"No, but I think Mitch is going to win in Kentucky. By the way, you're the one that he said that she had disqualified herself, her opponent, by saying that she wouldn't tell people whether she voted for President Obama or not," Portman responded, referring to Grimes.
"Well, I meant that voters might think that at the time," Todd said about his comment, which he has already called "sloppy."
Todd then asked Portman if he thinks McConnell should be the Republican leader in the Senate.
"Yeah, I think he should," Portman answered.

A CNN "State Of The Union" debate on the midterm elections between Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus and Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) quickly devolved into complete chaos on Sunday. Host Candy Crowley first asked Priebus if this election is about scaring voters into voting a certain way. And when he responded with a line about President Obama's policies being on the ballot, Crowley asked Wasserman-Schultz if that was true.
As the DNC chair responded, Priebus jumped in to insist that Wasserman-Schultz answer the question about Obama's policies. After Crowley asked another question, the two chairs quickly started talking over each other again, discussing completely different topics. "This is ridiculous," Priebus noted.
Crowley then asked Wasserman-Schultz again whether Obama's policies are on the ballot, and Priebus jumped in once more. "Are they the president's policies or not? Are the president's policies on the ballot or not?" Priebus echoed. "Reince, maybe you could let Candy ask me the questions rather than you," Wasserman-Schultz retorted. "She's been doing a great job of it so far -- you haven't been answering them, though," Priebus hit back. The two party chairs continued to interrupt each other and bring up new topics for the rest of the debate.

Now, I know youre probably wondering why you should care about what this person has to say. Well, because a move to secede isnt as radical as you might think. Take this recent poll that showed less than half of the people living in Mississippi would support the United States against the Confederacy if a second Civil War was fought. Then theres the League of the South which has put up billboards promoting secession. Or a group of rural Colorado conservative counties that voted to form their own state last year. And we cant forget last year when a Texas lawmaker admitted that the state legislature has actually made plans in case the United States falls apart. And as a Texas resident, I can promise you there are plenty of people in this state who would support secession.
So we cant pretend that just because MacKinnon might be some extremely far-right radical, he can have no impact or influence on Republican policy. Especially when, despite the fact that this book is clearly outrageously radical, it does encompass the push by many conservatives to have a nation based on religious rule, Christian values and a staunch opposition to homosexuality. Which is apparently a large part of what this book is about. Well, MacKinnon argues that during the Civil War it was the North which acted illegally and aggressively against a peaceful South that had legally seceded from the union. He argues that Lincoln waged an illegal war that was in fact not declared against the South after the South basically did what were talking about in this book now in terms of peacefully, legally and constitutionally leaving the union.
Yes, the South was very peaceful and innocent when they attempted to form their own nation so that these states could continue to own and treat other human beings like pieces of farm equipment instead of actual people. How thoughtful of them. Though in this book he apparently cites the gay rights agenda as the main reason why conservative states should break away from the United States and form their own nation named Reagan. Feel free to take as much time as you need to control your laughter. It never ceases to amaze me how obsessed many conservatives are about homosexuals. Its just comical. And the thing is, Im willing to bet that not a single one of these ignorant bastards can cite one instance where gays gaining equal rights has directly impacted their lives. Its all just some kind of sick mental obsession many conservatives seem to have about gays and their lifestyle. Its just never made any sense why anyone would care. Its all unbelievable ignorance and stupidity. Which is clearly what MacKinnons book is full of. Its amazing to me how its perfectly acceptable among many conservatives for someone like MacKinnon to publicly support the Confederacy and the Souths actions during the Civil War. Meanwhile, these same conservatives insist that the Republican party doesnt have an issue with racism.

Rep. Charles Rangel is absolutely correct in the statements he makes in the above video. The congressman appeared on Jose Diaz-Balart. He echoed unfortunately what too few congresspeople are echoing. The ISIS/ISIL war is not an existential threat to America. I wrote about it a few weeks ago where I said the following:
The military industrial complex and its puppets in the media and Congress play into the game. After all, it is a gain for them both. For the military industrial complex they profit from the bombs, military hardware, and services they provide. Congress keeps Americans in a state of fear. Americans remain paralyzed and take their eyes off the ball. They are no longer focused on a plutocracy extracting their wealth and squandering their economic future.
Americans must wise up and make it absolutely clear to the president and Congress that ISIS is not an existential threat to the US. Instead of spending billions over there, spend it over here. Improve our security. Rebuild our infrastructure. Invest in Americas human capital.
http://egbertowillies.com/2014/09/07/conned-war-isis-isil/
Rep. Rangel's last statement is one every American citizen should digest. "Listen. It is a confusing thing," Rangel said. "If indeed the president knows who supports him in terms of 'this war,' if they're right, bring it to the Congress and convince the United States of America that there is a threat to our national security. And when you do that, be prepared to pay for it. Be prepared to make a sacrifice. Have a mandatory military so that we all share in defending ourselves. And also, pay for it with a war tax."
If all Americans had to sacrifice like the thousands of soldiers that have been maimed, killed, and/or had their lives or the lives of their families destroyed, our affinity for war would attenuate rapidly. Fighting them over there does little to protect us over here. Protecting us here prevents them from getting over here.

WANT WAR? Congressman Thinks We Should DO THIS FIRST.
This rant is for all the war-mongering, chickenhawk-reTHUG, cabal of Bushes, Cheneys, Romneys (5 sons), Rumsfelds etc. and ALL politicians who want to eagerly jump into wars without ever paying the piper with their own family's blood sacrifice. Such clever weasels expect OTHER PATRIOT FAMILIES to sacrifice dearly while they stir up world conflicts for multinationals and deliver their propaganda through speeches about sacrifice for God & Country when they themselves or their brood have NO intention of ever participating in such conflicts. Lets FIRST, airdrop THEIR family on the front lines of these brutal wars and MAYBE we might see our politicians renew the art of 'diplomacy first' once again.

SHHHHHHWEASEL, MY PRECIOUS!.............
Mitch McConnell is so desperate to get people to attend his campaign rallies that he is paying people from Ohio in order to make it appear that he has supporters. This is another sign that McConnells campaign may be losing in Kentucky.
According to The Independent Online in Ashland, KY,
McConnell is refusing to answer questions about the supporters that his campaign paid to be on the bus tour, but reporting from the scene suggests that if the paid supporters, campaign staffers, and those who are ineligible to vote in the Senate election are subtracted, Sen. McConnell could probably comfortably fit all of his organic supporters into a few tables at Dennys.
Candidates, Democratic or Republican, who cant generate crowds at rallies usually dont win. The absence of a crowd is direct indicator of a lack of enthusiasm for McConnells reelection bid.

"....With a backdrop of two gargantuan dump trucks displaying banners which read Protect Coal Jobs and Support Coal or live in the Dark, McConnell addressed about 100 supporters. They included some of the same young people decked out in red TeamMitch t-shirts on hand at stops in the area Tuesday and a few Whayne Supply employees, at least one of which said he lives in Ohio and cant vote in Kentuckys senate election. The online publication, The Hill, reported the Republican Party of Kentucky solicited volunteers to go on the trip to show support, offering to pick up the cost of their meals and lodging. McConnell would only say he has enthusiastic supporters when asked about the story..."

Alison Lundergan Grimes took the stage in Kentucky and delivered a punch in the nose to Chuck Todd by proclaiming that she will not be bullied by the Meet The Press moderator. During a rally in Kentucky will Bill Clinton, Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes said, Kentucky is ready for a senator thats an independent thinker that can put the partisanship aside and actually fight for the people for this state. One that wont be bullied by Mitch McConnell or Chuck Todd. We can do this Kentucky.
Chuck Todd has been crying crocodile tears about how he never wanted to inject himself into the center of the campaign, but his comments about Alison Grimes disqualifying herself by refusing to say if she voted for President Obama have done exactly that. It turns out that while he was trying to sabotage Grimes, Chuck Todd did her a big favor. Todd has become the perfect foil for Grimes to make her point that Washington is trying to tell Kentucky what kind of senator they deserve. Todds comments were so ignorant of the needs of the people of Kentucky that he is the embodiment of why Mitch McConnell should not be sent back to the Senate.
The media are trying to bully Alison Lundergan Grimes by dismissing her chances of winning because the press has already determined that Republicans are going to win control of the Senate. The media have already decide that the 2014 election is about voters rejecting Barack Obama. By claiming that Grimes disqualified herself, Todd was just pushing his preconceived storyline for the election.

A disturbing video that was uploaded to facebook yesterday reportedly shows several convenience store employees refusing to accept money from a black child. The scene was recorded at a 7-Eleven store in Alexandria, Virginia. As a little boy, who is being held by his father, tries to pay for a bag of chips, the three workers can be seen refusing to take the money out of the childs hand. The video goes on for a minute and a half, as angry and frustrated customers of the store tell the workers to take the childs money.
It wasnt until a white woman standing next to the boy and his father finally spoke up, paying for the childs chips herself, that the workers finally rang up and cashed out the sale. The woman can be heard saying as she pushes the money at one of the cashiers:

"Unfortunately, this video neglects to tell the whole story and is clearly meant to create unrest and misdirect anger," a spokesperson for 7-Eleven said in an email today. Neither race or racism was a factor in what happened in that video. The franchisee for this store, herself, is Black/African-American, and during the incident on tape another African-American customer was served. We explained this to the Caucasian lady who purchased the chips. She was sorry that she was outspoken against the employees and was sympathetic to their predicament."

What a rag-of-a-man, disguised as a journalist shilling for thugs & grifters who are hell bent on hurting the 99%...
Now he's caught with his thumb up his a$$!!
Chuck Todd sat down with Media Matters for an interview, and tried to backtrack off of his claim that Kentucky Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes disqualified herself because she wont say who she voted for in 2012.
Transcript from Media Matters:
TODD: It turned into a lively discussion. Look, I dont like being part of a political campaign.
MEDIA MATTERS: Right, and then you were in the ad.
TODD: And I dont like you know, and it gives me heartburn. All right? It gives me it makes me, you know, literally physically ill.
MEDIA MATTERS: What do you say what do you think is the standard for saying someones disqualified? I mean, things like Mitch McConnell doesnt believe in
TODD: My point is, its up to a voter.
MEDIA MATTERS: global warming or others
TODD: My point is its up to the the voters make that decision, not me.
MEDIA MATTERS: Right, but youre the one who mentioned it.
TODD: And I understand. Like I said, I was shorthanding it, and I what I that, to me I think a lot of voters are going to say that that was a like, this is ridiculous, and now youre just trying to pull the wool over my eyes. This is kind of silly. And to voters, thats a theres different look, voters disqualify candidates for various reasons. I was you can accuse me of being sloppy, of putting the words in my mouth and I should have put the words in the in how this will impact, impact voters and impact the race. And, you know, thats where I was sloppy. I dont take back the analysis. I mean, I think its I think that you know, I think it was I think she had run shes been running a poor campaign. I dont understand how shes not made this about Mitch McConnell. Like, Im still for the life of me, I dont get how this is not a referendum on him. Right? And you know, thats I mean, you know, thats clearly what the voters wanted to make it. So I you know, and, you know, so you critique the campaign, but I think this was a you know, its one of those campaigns have moments.

Chuck Todd thinks Alison Lundergan Grimes has run a terrible campaign, but in no way was he trying to help Mitch McConnell by claiming that Grimes had disqualified herself. The most exasperating element of Todds remarks is that Grimes has been making this election all about McConnell from the very beginning. She has been going after the incumbents record daily. Her campaign message can be summed up as fire Mitch McConnell, and elect a senator who will work for the people of Kentucky. Grimes has not run a flawless campaign. At times, her campaign has gotten bogged down in a sort of negative tit for tat mudslinging that is McConnells only chance of winning. Her answer on the simple who did you vote for softball leaves much to be desired, but Todds criticism of her campaign is so far off base that it is obvious that he hasnt been paying attention to what is happening in Kentucky.
Chuck Todd knew what he was doing when he claimed that Alison Lundergan Grimes disqualified herself. He knew that his comments would generate attention. He was counting on it. Todds takeover of Meet The Press has done nothing to halt the shows slide into oblivion. Todd needed some headlines, so he cut loose on Grimes. What the Meet The Press moderator didnt count on was the backlash that has followed his comments.

Chuck Todd sat down with Media Matters for an interview, and tried to backtrack off of his claim that Kentucky Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes disqualified herself because she wont say who she voted for in 2012.
Transcript from Media Matters:
