Crews battling fire at Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church in Greeleyville, SC, officials say; church was previously burnt down in 1995 -

A fire that destroyed a black church that 20 years ago was a target of the Ku Klux Klan was not the work of an arsonist, a federal law enforcement source said Wednesday.

The Ku Klux Klan has been approved to hold a protest rally at the Statehouse next month against removing the Confederate battle flag, with the group calling accused mass murderer Dylann Roof a “young warrior.”

The Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan applied for the permit last week to hold a rally for 100 to 200 people on July 18 on the north side of the Statehouse.

The move was not endorsed by Gov. Nikki Haley. “This is our state, and they are not welcome,” she said in a statement issued by her press office.

Then there is the private debt held by banks. Greece owes German, French and British banks roughly 30 billion euros, and the IMF holds a similar level of debt.
If the nation goes into default and is forced out of the eurozone, these countries would have to write off Greece's debts; that is a pretty strong motive to keep Greece in the tent.

The U.S. Supreme Court rejected appeals from BP Plc and Anadarko Petroleum Corp., leaving intact a ruling that opens the companies to potentially billions of dollars in fines for the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The federal government is seeking as much as $13.7 billion in civil fines from BP and more than $1 billion from Anadarko. The offshore spill, caused by the explosion of BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil rig, was the largest in U.S. history, releasing millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf.
