I just got an illegal robocall from a local Republican candidate

I got a robocall from a candidate for state senate on my cell phone, which is itself illegal. But what seemed especially odd was that the call said that a ballot would be sent to me in the mail. I already picked up my ballot yesterday from the Board of Elections, so that makes no sense. I am a registered Democrat and voted in 2 Democratic primaries this year, so I wonder if this was a message designed to mislead Democratic voters.

I doubt he actually saw it, but it looks like the President took my advice

On Friday, I wrote that the president should not fire Comey or otherwise get involved with the FBI crap because doing so could backfire by opening him up to charges of rigging the investigation and feed the pundits the opportunity to yack for days about whether it was equivalent to the Saturday Night Massacre.

Instead, I wrote that

The best thing the president can do for Hillary now is open up about how she came to earn his trust and offer a strong character endorsement, stronger than he has to date. He has been a great surrogate but he has mostly focused on her qualifications. I think he could give her a boost by vouching for her character and trustworthiness. And that would help her a lot more than getting anywhere near the FBI shenanigans.

I think in another post I actually suggested that he say that he wouldn't endorse her if he didn't trust her.

Of course, I got attacked for that as being insufficiently pro-Obama (really? me?), but apparently it was a good idea, because today he did pretty much exactly what I suggested:
“I just want everybody who’s watching to know that Hillary Clinton not only is going to make a great president and not only is she willing to work on the issues that your viewers care about most, but I trust her, I know her and, you know, I wouldn’t be supporting her if I didn’t have absolute confidence in her integrity and her interest in making sure that young people have a better future,” he said.

Of course, I doubt he or his staff read my post on DU, but I am still happy to see him "take my advice" even if he didn't know about it.

CBS/YouGov Poll: Clinton +3 (unchanged)

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump remain in a close race for the Presidency, with essentially the same levels of support as they have had for much of the fall. The advantage in the latest Economist/YouGov Poll remains with Clinton, who leads among likely voters (as well as among all registered voters) by three percentage points. This close contest has seen only incremental changes once the fall began, despite negative information that could have affected both campaigns. These two candidates seem to have fixed images and fixed levels of support among most of the voting public.

Among all registered voters, 45% now say they will vote for the Democrat, 42% for the Republican in the four-way contest. Looking only at likely voters, Clinton’s share is 46%, Trump’s 43%. The Libertarian and Green Party candidates receive 4% and 2% respectively. 4% expressed no preference. Clinton’s biggest lead in the Economist/YouGov polls since the two party conventions has been only six points.

Poll conducted October 30 - November 1, so post-Comey announcement. Overall somewhat relieving but it's frustrating that her honesty scores took such a big hit even though the newly discovered e-mails weren't even hers and may be duplicates. The media has really bungled this story by not making that clearer.

Help get #EnoughWithTheDamnEmails trending on Twitter

I'm trying to get this hashtag trending to show the media we are tired of their obsession with Hillary's e-mails. Who's with me?

Exception to the forum rules to allow discussion of voting for Evan McMullin in Utah?

I understand that ordinarily, it is against the forum rules to advocate for voting for candidates who are not Democrats or endorsed by Democrats. But I think an exception should be allowed to allow DU'ers to discuss whether, as a purely strategic matter, it makes sense for Democrats in Utah to vote for Evan McMullin to deny Trump the electoral votes, if polls continue to show McMullin doing better than Clinton there shortly before the election.

Trump: I would get the 'electric chair' if I did what Brazile did

“And speaking of draining the swamp, Donna Brazile did it again. WikiLeaks, today. She gave the questions to a debate to Hillary Clinton and that was from a couple of weeks ago. Happened again, but this time far worse. She gave the questions to the debate to Hillary Clinton. Now, they’re all blaming Donna Brazile and frankly, I think she just got fired from the network,” Trump said at his Grand Rapids, Michigan, rally on Monday where he was introduced by legendary Indiana University Basketball coach Bobby Knight.

“She should be fired from the DNC. By the way, could you imagine if I did that? Bobby what would happen to me if I did that?” Trump said, turning to Knight who was off to the side. “Electric chair, I think. The electric chair. If I did that, can you imagine?”

WTF? Is leaking a debate question in advance even a crime?

Has pseudojournalist Edward Klein weighed in on the FBI thing yet?

I'm looking forward to his piece about how this was President Obama's way to win the final battle with Hillary while appearing to support her. You know, because behind the scenes they still hate each other.

#ImWithHer now. And I'm sick of having my loyalty questioned.

I made my "Bernie Has My Heart, Hillary Has My Vote" designs on June 8, the day after the California primary. I've been working to support Hillary ever since, have volunteered and donated, have worked to try to persuade other Bernie supporters to come on board, and have signed up for the Victory Counsel election protection squad.

In spite of all this, have been a few DU'ers, one in particular (with thousands of posts, not a low post troll), who keep replying to a large percentage of my posts with nasty accusations of some secret agenda to undermine her no matter what I post. I have never had a JPR account and think those guys are nuts, but I am constantly accused of being a troll from JPR. I tried to reach out to the main offender, whom I believe I can't name, to ask why he/she had a problem with me, but was icily told not to contact that person.

Today it hit a new low when I was accused of not supporting the president enough because I made a suggestion about how he could vouch for her integrity.

I am pretty sure the same thing has happened to other Bernie supporters who have stayed, and I am sick of it. The Busters went to JPR a while ago. Those of us who stayed are committed to electing Hillary, even if she wasn't our first choice. If you want us to #UniteBlue and want our help, stop treating us like second class citizens and questioning our motives every time we post a poll you don't like or a suggestion for how Hillary can win.

No, President Obama should NOT fire Comey

Some people on here have suggested that President Obama should fire Comey. While I agree that what Comey did seems inappropriate, at least without giving more detail, firing him is the worst thing the president could possibly do. Republicans and the media would scream that he obstructed justice to protect Hillary, it would cast doubt on any subsequent revelations from the FBI that it's not nearly as bad as it's being made out to be, and it would not only hurt Hillary but it would destroy the president's credibility too, and with it his ability to help downballot candidates. Any official intervention by the president would be like throwing oil on a gas fire. It would be the Saturday Night Massacre 2.0.
