Brigid's Journal"What are they supposed to donate with -- their food stamps?"
Big Ed talked about the story that's gotten lots of attention over the past few days: the one about the Wal-Mart in OH that has been collecting donations of food for employees -- from other employees. The woman who took the infamous photos was on Rachel's show last night. This is quite a quote; too bad I missed the interview on Rachel's show last night.
Just caught an episode of "Snake Salvation."
I never saw it before. I never saw anything so stupid. "You shall not put the Lord your God to the test."
Lots of planes coming in to the Indy airport tonight.
Unusual for a Sunday night. I wonder if planes are being diverted from elsewhere because of the weather.
"The Crumbling of America" is coming up at 4 pm edt on H2.
It's about the terrible state of the country's infrastructure. It is several years old now, but the situation has not improved.
A Letter I'm considering sending to the IRS:
Dear IRS:
I am enclosing the amount you people say I owe. This does not imply that I agree with you, but a grudging acceptance that I have no way of fighting back. I am only paying because I do not feel like losing my home to you over a "debt" of less than $500.
I am extremely unhappy over the service, or lack thereof, that I have received in trying to clarify this matter. Numerous attempts to call have resulted in nothing but phone trees and hold music. Calls to the taxpayer advocate line produced the same results. H& R Block, who prepared the return, and my financial cannot clarify this either.
I feel that I am entitled to a clear and complete explanation from you of this matter, but have not been able to obtain one. That kind of incompetence is unacceptable by any standards. It is no wonder so many people believe the federal government couldn't run a two-car funeral.
A Mistreated Taxpayer,
Brigid
Watching a part of a documentary that has to do with Henry Frick.
I've known about this sociopath for a while now. He's been dead for almost a century. So why does the mere mention of his name still make me want to do this:
Watching "Matewan" again, and noticed something new.
It's that kind of movie -- you notice something new with each viewing. I noticed that many of the company thugs, Baldwin-Felts "detectives," are apparently WWI combat vets. Much like many of today's cops, huh?
Despite the danger, some found the Nazis less than intimidating
A little humor helped people cope.
The Babushkas of Chernobyl
The fascinating story of these elderly women and why they stay in the area.

"Blazing Saddles" is on VH1 Classics. "Animal House" is next.
"Blazing Saddles" and "Young Frankenstein" would have made a better double feature, but this will do.
