"Still, we continue to face a terrorist threat…"

It's called, BULLSHIT.

However, it's packaged and delivered in an intelligent manner with so many words for which Bush's speech writers would give their best golf swings.

Now let's be clear… by calling it "BULLSHIT", this doesn't mean our president is a bullshitter. It means that he delivers a more believable bullshit message…

"STILL… WE …. CONTINUE….. TO ….. FACE… A… TERRORIST… THREAT…."

And, thus, begins a new hope that I no longer believe in.

What a good FIRST meal for me to make?

I've been without a kitchen for almost 2 months, living like a hoarder amongst boxes for a huge project during a summer long home renovation since early May.

So, I'm about 2.5 weeks away from the "new kitchen". I've had so much from the Giant Eagle deli, rotisserie chicken, tuna salad, mixed greens and other raw veggie salads, cheeses, tomatoes from garden and toast, I've lost a good 6 pounds. This is the only good side effect. It's been a long slog and I'm gonna be so glad when I have the kitchen together again.

Thus… thinking of staying with the "low on the food chain" menu, and cause I'm 90% vegetarian anyway, love Italian, love Indian, LOVE Mexican…. any ideas of a "first meal" you can give me?

I'm so close, it is now fun to ask my DU buddies. I gotta hold on a little longer!!!

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone in the 12th District had a conversation with Erin McClelland?

I had received telephone messages from her or staff asking for campaign contributions, and finally called to talk to her the other day. Before I share anything, I wondered if other persons had done the same. I have my point of view, but wanted to hear from your first.

Where I live in Monroeville, my ward is actually split into 3 (count em) US congressional districts. It's pathetic. So, when the state re-districted again (I call this gerrymandering) I no longer tormented the Tim Murphy staff, because I joined the jagged district of the 12th, even more bizarre on how it's cut up. Keith Rothfus is Murphy drone, so I was naturally anxious to see who'd run against him.

Any takers?

Sooo… Apparently there WILL be a Season THREE of ORPHAN BLACK...

This link appears to make it a forgone conclusion: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/orphan-black/news/1931130/10_things_we_learned_about_orphan_black_at_comic-con/

Pretty good interview and convinces me that twists and turns to where the writers story goes is nothing but great texture for another season to come!

Richard Mellon Scaife - July 3, 1932 - July 4, 2014

Ideologue, philanthropist, newspaper publisher

By Gary Rotstein, Pittsburgh Post Gazette

Local newspaper publisher Richard M. Scaife, an heir to the Mellon fortune who became one of America's leading funders of conservative causes, died Friday morning. He was 82.

A shy, even reclusive, man who was both among the biggest benefactors and biggest enemies of U.S. presidents, Mr. Scaife was one of the few Western Pennsylvanians to end up on the annual Forbes list of wealthiest Americans. The magazine last year estimated the Shadyside resident's worth at $1.4 billion.

He began experiencing serious health problems in late 2012, when he was hospitalized for months with pneumonia and a collapsed lung. In a newspaper column on May 18, he disclosed that he had recently been diagnosed with untreatable cancer.

"Some who dislike me may rejoice at this news. Naturally, I can't share their enthusiasm," he noted with wry reference to how he could be a prominently polarizing figure.

Mr. Scaife may have been best known locally as owner of the Tribune-Review Publishing Co., which puts out editions in Pittsburgh and Greensburg in addition to operating other daily newspapers. He was also a prominent philanthropist for the past half-century through funding of the art museum at The Carnegie, the historic redevelopment of Station Square and numerous other institutions.

The Ligonier native's influence, however, ranged far beyond Pittsburgh, Westmoreland County and the rest of the region where he spent his life.

He donated widely not just to Republican political candidates -- Barry Goldwater's presidential run in 1964 was among the first -- but to the think tanks, research institutes and university departments whose work has been closely tied to the ascendancy of right-wing ideology since the Reagan presidency.

The public foundations and private trusts controlled by Mr. Scaife have been major backers of the Heritage Foundation, Cato Institute, American Enterprise Institute, Hoover Institute in California and the Georgetown University Center for Strategic and International Studies, among many institutions linked to the right. "He is nothing less than the financial archangel for the movement's intellectual underpinnings," the Wall Street Journal once said of Mr. Scaife.

I, for one, won't "rejoice" Scaife' departure, as I would cluck my tongue at his the waste of opportunity to learn something in life. And, this is what makes me shake my head... Old money passes on … So much opportunity to learn. But, you would have thought after attending Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts, then flunking out of a private university like Yale after being disciplined for out of control partying, perhaps you would learned something when you returned home to get a degree of Pitt (degree, British history!) Hey, at least it's history.

Instead, Scaife took control of the foundation's money, and became one of the earliest seeds in starting "think tanks" to move against everything liberal. Look at what Scaife did in particular the Clinton's during their 8 years in Washington. I see examples of what passes as the Tribune Media "conservative news, and balanced views". That ridiculous nonsense feeds all the misguided fools in this part of the state.

Then, surprise… all is forgiven by the Clinton's, because….Scaife became a 6 figure contributor to the William J Clinton Foundation.

Yes, good-bye, Richard Mellon Scaife. Falling off of a horse at the age of nine must have influenced something in your limbic brain. You probably hated your caregivers, which explains a lot. The Clintons just sucked up to you, as they had plenty of practice and probably count on that sort of person who remained uninformed to the end of his life.

Unfortunately… that jury is full

Well, it finally happened to me… within a second of getting jury notice and responding.

Thank you for choosing to serve. Unfortunately, that Jury is full.
Our community relies on people like you to help maintain a certain level of civil discourse, and we very much appreciate your willingness to spend some time serving on a Jury. Unfortunately, there was a glitch with our software and too many people were asked to serve on this Jury. We apologize for the inconvenience. We hope to fix this problem soon.

You remain eligible to serve on a Jury, and could be asked again at any time. When that happens, we hope that you will choose to serve again at that time. (Hopefully next time our software will not let you down.)

Thank you for your time, and thank you for your understanding.

Gee, I had JUST finished posting about a goat anal stimulator… I thought I had tripped over the line again!

Here's what you do when you're sick of your "in-box" congressional e-mail

First, Rep Keith Rothfus's bullshit message -

The situation unfolding in Iraq is a tragedy.

Almost 4,500 fellow Americans made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq defending our freedom and fighting oppression and tyranny. More than 32,000 men and women who served our country in Iraq bear the wounds of war. And all who served had extraordinary pressures put on their families.

Unless you have lived it, one cannot begin to know the pain experienced by the families of the fallen and wounded.

Our men and women in uniform fought for an ideal. That ideal is freedom. The freedom of religion. The freedom of speech. The freedom to assemble and vote and make ones voice heard.

That ideal will never die.

(this is where I'd had it… so my response….)

Dear Mr. Rothfus,

We never should have invaded Iraq 11 years ago. Had you done your homework, you would have this knowledge. The situation you call "unfolding" is the handywork of the neocons like Dick Cheney, George Bush and his father, George HW Bush, Condi Rice, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, and the entire embedded media who went to sleep as they reported what they were told.

We killed countless Iraqis after the invasion of "shock and awe"… for what? We weren't even in the right country, since the majority of the highjackers were from Saudi Arabia and/or funded by them. We, with our vast military intelligence couldn't or wouldn't even find OBL until this administration's "discovery" and quick elimination without evidence to the American people. We, with our vast military budget couldn't get in and out of a conflict we brought on WITHOUT finding evidence of "weapons of mass destruction".

Where the hell were YOU? Haven't you gotten this information yet? Why the "tragedy unfolding" newsletter? What's your point, Representative Rothfus?"

You know, you really don't represent us. You instead carry on the non-representation we had with Tim Murphy and his photo ops for over 10 years.

Wake up and find the real information. Stop supporting the "war criminals are us" mentality of Bush/Cheney as outlined over 15 years ago in the Project for the New American Century (PNAC).

Have a nice day.

Thank you,

(us)

P.S. It's nice to know the nearest local office WE have is in Johnstown, over 30 miles from here.

Please DU this poll from WSJ - "Should Towns be allowed to use Zoning to ban Fracking?"

Here: http://blogs.wsj.com/metropolis/2014/06/17/wsj-poll-should-towns-be-allowed-to-use-zoning-regulations-to-ban-fracking/

As a past local government official, I want to tell you that zoning districts should reflect the best use of land management. You cannot have the state (as PA tried to do) come in and usurp local government's decision on how that land should be managed.

Please join me in the ban of such land use. We've almost gone insane over the ALEC written legislation here that will be the death of us, if we don't weigh in.

Dear Friends and Activists… California leads the way out of Citizen's United decision...

From an e-mail with subject heading, "Big Positive News About The Movement To Overturn Citizens United"

We have major good news to report on multiple fronts.

First, thanks to the diligent activism of our CA participants,
SB1272, the Overturn Citizens United Act, appears to be headed for a
passage vote in its last state committee before it goes to the full
CA Assembly, having already passed the CA Senate. This would put a
measure on the November ballot to give the citizens of CA a chance to
speak out on whether they support a constitutional amendment
specifically, to get the big special interest money out of our
elections.

The massive importance of this is that it will dramatically increase
turnout for the very candidates we must elect to make a
constitutional amendment actually happen, and can be a powerful model
for how to do it nationwide, state by state.

Second, we were just notifed by Kickstarter that they have selected
our Citizens United, The Movie, Day 2 Shoot project as one of their
OFFICIAL staff picks. This is HUGE news, as we again are moving into
the top 10 most popular of all current Kickstarter movie projects.

Citizens United, The Movie, on Kickstarter: http://kck.st/1v0dhXM

And we just posted on this page the latest update of progress on the
production of this important mobilization vehicle in the form of a
full length feature dramatic film.

In the new video you can watch the fully completed opening sequence
with the James Madison voiceover and fresh new clips we shot for our
montage of colonial activities in authentic attire, thanks to the
wholehearted cooperation of Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation.

And we have assembled our first edit of the green screen footage of
our main founding fathers scene with James Madison and Alexander
Hamilton. The acting is great and the hair styling and costumes are
perfect. We are just starting to put that together with the true to
historical life backgrounds, but when you see the final thing all
assembled we promise it will be stunning, a critical scene to set a
baseline in the movie for what the founding fathers REALLY meant the
Constitution to mean.

The new Kickstarter round only has another 9 days to run, so please
take a moment to check it out while you have the chance, share the
page with your social media contacts, and if you are inspired to make
a kind contribution of any amount to help bring with dramatic movie
production home, we have lots of great rewards for you there, some
available nowhere else.

You may forward this message to any friends who would find it
important.
