President Carter To Grandson Re: Mitt Video: "James: This is extraordinary. Congratulations! Papa."

Former Pres. Jimmy Carter Congratulates Grandson on Unearthing Romney Video

How the Romney video leaked: For Carters, it was personal
By NBC’s Michael Isikoff
Follow @IsikoffNBC

The self-described Atlanta-based "oppo researcher" who helped broker the release of the secret video that has rocked the Romney campaign got a congratulatory email today from his famous grandfather -- former President Jimmy Carter.

........................

James Carter IV told NBC News in an interview that, starting late last month, he tracked down the source who took the secret Romney video via Twitter -- and then in a series of messages encouraged him to release the full tape to Mother Jones magazine.

After emailing his grandfather the magazine's story about the tape -- under the subject, "Huge campaign news," and calling it "my biggest story yet" -- the former president wrote back at 7:16 am Tuesday: "James: This is extraordinary. Congratulations! Papa."

"I'm proud of my role in being able to track him down," James Carter, 35, said about the source who took the video. "I'm a partisan Democrat. My motivation is to help Democrats get elected. If there is anything I can find in any race, I try to do that."

Bill Kristol: Romney Remarks ‘Arrogant And Stupid’

Conservative columnist Bill Kristol lit into Mitt Romney in the Weekly Standard over his leaked remarks that 47 percent of Americans are hopelessly dependent on government and thus will vote for President Obama.

"It remains important for the country that Romney wins in November (unless he chooses to step down and we get the Ryan-Rubio ticket we deserve!)," Kristol wrote on Tuesday. "But that shouldn't blind us to the fact that Romney's comments, like those of Obama four years ago, are arrogant and stupid.

Noting that many of the 47 percent of Americans who don't pay income tax are core Republican groups like seniors and active military, Kristol added that "Romney seems to have contempt not just for the Democrats who oppose him, but for tens of millions who intend to vote for him."

Look at these children with dirty feet because they have no shoes, and only two pairs of socks to their name. Skinny not because they are fit, but because they don’t have enough to eat. Homeless despite mental illness and physical ailments. They sure don’t look lazy, well-fed and entitled to me. They look lost, like they need a leader to help them out of the pit they are currently in. Look at the mother, standing barefoot in rubble in a garage she converted to a home. Look at their refrigerator, empty except for a few condiments, with two weeks left to go before their food stamps arrive. Imagine having a single tortilla with peanut butter, or going without because rations are low and the kids must eat. A donated laptop gives the kids a chance to battle computer illiteracy, yet they are judged by Romney as failures who feel we should give them everything. I guess she has plenty of time to feel entitled while washing her kid’s clothes in the kitchen sink.

Mitt Romney Never Mentioned Our Troops At The RNC & NOW He Is Calling THEM Moochers Too!

So, here are the people Romney says are just hopeless, and who feel entitled: seniors on fixed incomes, those living on disability, low and middle income people, and now, military people serving in a combat zone. Maybe that's why Mitt didn't bother mentioning the troops or Afghanistan during his RNC acceptance speech. They aren't just cannon fodder. They're moochers.

Advice For GOP: Stop Blaming Media & Blame The Existence Of Recording Devices.

That liberal media with their recording devices to report what people say. Such a bias over the GOP’s completely making shit up.

WOW-David Brooks: Thurston Howell Romney "when will the incompetence stop?"

Thurston Howell Romney
By DAVID BROOKS

This comment suggests a few things. First, it suggests that he really doesn’t know much about the country he inhabits. Who are these freeloaders? Is it the Iraq war veteran who goes to the V.A.? Is it the student getting a loan to go to college? Is it the retiree on Social Security or Medicare?

It suggests that Romney doesn’t know much about the culture of America. Yes, the entitlement state has expanded, but America remains one of the hardest-working nations on earth. Americans work longer hours than just about anyone else. Americans believe in work more than almost any other people. Ninety-two percent say that hard work is the key to success, according to a 2009 Pew Research Survey.

It says that Romney doesn’t know much about the political culture. Americans haven’t become childlike worshipers of big government. On the contrary, trust in government has declined. The number of people who think government spending promotes social mobility has fallen.

The people who receive the disproportionate share of government spending are not big-government lovers. They are Republicans. They are senior citizens. They are white men with high school degrees. As Bill Galston of the Brookings Institution has noted, the people who have benefited from the entitlements explosion are middle-class workers, more so than the dependent poor.
