Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey gives $3 million to Colin Kaepernick's organization

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey gives $3 million to Colin Kaepernick’s organization

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said he was giving $3 million to Colin Kaepernick’s organization Know Your Rights Camp.
It’s the latest donation from Dorsey, who has faced criticism from conservatives for putting a warning label on Donald Trump’s tweet.

Dorsey is the the latest tech executive to give to anti-racist organizations in the wake of widespread protests over the killing of George Floyd, a black man in Minneapolis. A video of a white policeman kneeling on Floyd’s neck for nearly 9 minutes while he pleaded that he couldn’t breathe was shared widely on social media, igniting demonstrations across the world.

Dorsey has also faced recent criticism from President Donald Trump and right-wing conservatives for placing a “public interest notice” over a recent tweet by Trump for the first time. Twitter said Trump’s post, which said, “when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” violated its policies about glorifying violence.

Kaepernick is best known for his time playing for the San Francisco 49ers, where he kneeled during the national anthem in protest of police killings against black people. The NFL and many conservatives criticized the gesture, saying it disrespected soldiers. Kapernick’s organization educates young people about their rights.

Spanish Porn Star Killed a Man in Psychedelic Toad Venom Ritual: Cops
Published Jun. 03, 2020 10:45PM ET

A Spanish porn star has been arrested and charged with manslaughter along with two others over the death of a man who inhaled psychedelic poison from a rare toad. Jose Luis Abad, a Spanish fashion photographer, died in a July 2019 mystic ritual after consuming too much venom from bufo alvarius, a species more commonly known as the Colorado River Toad that secretes mucus containing the powerful hallucinogen 5-MeO-DMT. After a lengthy investigation, authorities took Nacho Vidal, a Spanish pornographic actor who sells replicas of his penis as perfume bottles and candles, as well as one of Vidal’s relatives and one of his employees into custody in the Valencia region of Spain. Spanish police said Vidal, in conducting the ritual, preyed on “highly suggestible people who were especially vulnerable and were seeking alternative ways to cure certain ailments or addiction.” Vidal’s lawyer denied his client acted as a shaman and said Abad’s ingestion of the venom was voluntary.

Trump at Odds with Every Living President

Trump at Odds with Every Living President
June 3, 2020 at 8:23 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

“Four U.S. presidents spoke this week about systemic racism and injustice. They used their platforms to illuminate the humanity in all Americans and to decry the dehumanization of some. And they summoned the nation to confront its failures, make change and come together,” the Washington Post reports.

“A fifth U.S. president spoke instead this week about using military force to dominate Americans who are protesting racial injustice. He declared winners and losers among state and city officials trying to safeguard their streets. And, with his reelection campaign in mind, he sought to apply a partisan political lens to the national reckoning over racial inequities.”

Trump hits back at Mattis: "I gave him a new life"

Trump hits back at Mattis: "I gave him a new life"
Orion Rummler

President Trump unloaded on his former defense secretary via Twitter on Wednesday, hours after James Mattis condemned him for making a "mockery of our Constitution" in his response to mass protests in the wake of George Floyd's killing.

What he's saying:
"Probably the only thing Barack Obama & I have in common is that we both had the honor of firing Jim Mattis, the world’s most overrated General. I asked for his letter of resignation, & felt great about it. His nickname was 'Chaos', which I didn’t like, & changed it to 'Mad Dog'"

"His primary strength was not military, but rather personal public relations. I gave him a new life, things to do, and battles to win, but he seldom 'brought home the bacon'. I didn’t like his 'leadership' style or much else about him, and many others agree. Glad he is gone!"

Background: Mattis resigned after clashing with Trump on the administration's decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria.

READ: Former President Jimmy Carter's statement on the death of George Floyd
By CNN
Updated 4:19 PM ET, Wed June 3, 2020

(CNN)Former President Jimmy Carter became the latest -- and final -- living former president to weigh in on the death of George Floyd, who was killed while in police custody last week.

Read the statement:

Rosalynn and I are pained by the tragic racial injustices and consequent backlash across our nation in recent weeks. Our hearts are with the victims' families and all who feel hopeless in the face of pervasive racial discrimination and outright cruelty. We all must shine a spotlight on the immorality of racial discrimination. But violence, whether spontaneous or consciously incited, is not a solution.

As a white male of the South, I know all too well the impact of segregation and injustice to African Americans. As a politician, I felt a responsibility to bring equity to my state and our country. In my 1971 inaugural address as Georgia's governor, I said: "The time for racial discrimination is over." With great sorrow and disappointment, I repeat those words today, nearly five decades later. Dehumanizing people debases us all; humanity is beautifully and almost infinitely diverse. The bonds of our common humanity must overcome the divisiveness of our fears and prejudices.

Since leaving the White House in 1981, Rosalynn and I have strived to advance human rights in countries around the world. In this quest, we have seen that silence can be as deadly as violence. People of power, privilege, and moral conscience must stand up and say "no more" to a racially discriminatory police and justice system, immoral economic disparities between whites and blacks, and government actions that undermine our unified democracy. We are responsible for creating a world of peace and equality for ourselves and future generations.

We need a government as good as its people, and we are better than this.

Remarkable Teen Leads Peaceful Detroit Protest, Gets Call From Mayor: ‘I saw your leadership; I’m in tears.’
By Good News Network -

16-year-old Stefan Perez began marching into downtown Detroit with 15 people. More and more joined him until he became an unwitting leader of a large crowd. Above all else, the Michigan teen vowed to keep everyone in line, and get them back home safely.

At the end of the march, after no looting or fights, he urged the protesters to comply with the city’s 8 p.m. curfew so that no one would get hurt.

With a megaphone thrust into his hand, he kept the protesters calm, even though he said “they were scared,” and some of them tried to defy his peaceful intentions.

“I tried to keep everybody together, I tried to keep everybody as a collective group, and we marched,” he told The Detroit Free Press. “I’m surprised people listened to me. I’m glad they did because they’re not hurt right now, ‘cause they could be.”

While the reporter was interviewing the young activist, Mayor Mike Duggan called on someone’s phone and the call was broadcast via speakerphone on Facebook Live.

“Son, I was watching the video and I saw your leadership. I have tears in my eyes, said the mayor. “You are everything that’s special about the city of Detroit… We’re going to fight this injustice because of people like you.

George Floyd Protests and Trump's Walk of Shame

snip//

Now we're getting the excuses, the distancing, the lying to make the whole thing seem far more anodyne than the insidious clusterfuck it was.

- Absurdly, Trump says that he didn't go hide in the bunker like an obese dachshund pissing itself under the bed in a thunderstorm. No, it was "more for an inspection" during the protests, a coincidence, really, in an excuse that's just so embarrassing that I don't even wanna be in the same species as him anymore.

- The Trump campaign wanted the media to retract that tear gas was used to break up the peaceful protest, despite the Park Police admitting that it used both smoke bombs and pepper balls (which essentially explode and release a gas that causes, well, tears). Media Matters kicked the retraction demand right in the taint.

- Trump was severely criticized by area leaders of two Christian faiths. The DC Episcopal bishop was pissed about the fascistic photo op. And the DC Catholic archbishop was pissed that Trump undulated over to the shrine to Pope John Paul II for another creepy ass photo with Melania, who looks as if she's thinking that sweet kiss of death can't come soon enough.

- Military leaders are scrambling to say that they thought the Lafayette Park assault was wrong, and Defense Secretary Mike Esper said he didn't know they were strolling through the emptied park for a quick pic at the church, which has pissed off the simpleton president because one of his loyal ball washers missed a hair.

- Oh, and the world is actually laughing at Trump and at us now when it's not recoiling in horror.

None of this has done a goddamn thing to quell the protests. In fact, in DC, they have grown larger in response to Trump's thuggishness. We have possibly reached a genuine inflection point, when it might be possible to enact real change when it comes to institutional, endemic racism, when it comes to the militarization of the police, when it comes to the power that has been taken from the people by leaders who don't give a single rat shit about the people.

We might not be able to wait six months. Or, really, over eight months, even if Trump loses, for change. We need an active and an activist Democratic Party, which needs to be making headlines, not making press releases. We need action from those leaders or they need to be replaced. And I'm not even talking about Joe Biden, who isn't in office right now and thus has no power beyond giving speeches and making appearances (which he is doing, even if they're not getting coverage).

It's time for Democrats to behave like black Americans are the ones who put Democrats over the line in election after election. This country already has enough of a debt to people of color. Let's pay back part of what they're owed by embracing this moment of resistance - genuine, not hashtag, resistance, with bodies on the line - and striving for something more than what we have been willing to settle for time and again. Meet the fucking moment, or walk in shame, too.

The New Vichys: Cowardly GOP Runs Away From Questions On Trump Again

The New Vichys: Cowardly GOP Runs Away From Questions On Trump Again
France's Vichy government immediately surrendered to Hitler with no resistance and went down in infamy as cowards to a fascist leader. And now...Senate Republicans are following suit.
By John Amato
VIDEO AT LINK~

Republicans in the Senate have become willing collaborators to Trump's narcissistic, criminal and chaotic rule.

Trump's presidency has cost so many American lives during the pandemic. It's cost us our economy as he has no plans to coordinate reopening, and now he's stoking violence as protestors in all fifty states rise up against police lynchings.

Republican Senators have sat on the sidelines and watched him undermine our national security, destroy relationships with our closest allies while kowtowing and sucking-up to autocratic and authoritarian leaders like Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin.

Running to the presidential bunker after protests broke out in DC, the stable genius is now ordering the military and police to assault civilians in order to show what a man he is.

snip//

Nothing highlights their cowardice more than when NBC's Kasie Hunt tried to get comments from Republican Senators over Trump's thuggish assault on the protesters.

Watching this two-minute video you can see them flee the scene, refuse to comment, claim ignorance, or say they are late for lunch.

Can you imagine that? 'Sorry, I'm late for lunch' as US citizens were being jackbooted by Trump's brown-shirts.

They need to be kicked out of power in 2020 just as much as Trump.

They disgrace themselves as well as the nation.
