super spreaders from Florida...

https://www.cltampa.com/news-views/florida-news/article/21124968/video-shows-phones-at-a-florida-beach-during-spring-break-and-where-they-all-travelled-during-the-coronavirus-outbreak?fbclid=IwAR1VJ6LBMClqYQ7E5Jjx1QYPrppSY13o3QPy22CGYahFuiObKqnYMg7Sq5w

Video shows phones at a Florida beach during spring break, and where they all traveled during the coronavirus outbreak

A new “heat map” using cellphone location data shows the terrifying consequences of Florida’s beaches remaining open during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

As you can see in the video, cellphones on a single beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, during spring break were selected and tracked, and then seen sprawling all over the Eastern half of the country, potentially spreading the virus even further.

The video was created to show human movement during the coronavirus pandemic and uses data collected by a location technology company called X-Mode, which was then put into the Tectonix data visualization platform.

https://www.npr.org/2020/03/19/818192535/burr-recording-sparks-questions-about-private-comments-on-covid-19

A secret recording taken of Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr shows him warning a private audience three weeks ago about how the Coronavirus would have dire effects on the U.S.

Audio at link. On NPR this morning. Apparently, the "insiders" knew a lot more than they were saying weeks ago.

Special Report: How Korea trounced U.S. in race to test people for coronavirus

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-testing-specialrep/special-report-how-korea-trounced-u-s-in-race-to-test-people-for-coronavirus-idUSKBN2153BW?fbclid=IwAR116B8Q-VUXCrQbBiRJrcjeUcMHjV3kuobjfHryzRlqWkljwctjZBWzArA

One of the country’s top infectious disease officials delivered an urgent message: South Korea needed an effective test immediately to detect the novel coronavirus, then running rampant in China. He promised the companies swift regulatory approval.

Though there were only four known cases in South Korea at that point, “we were very nervous. We believed that it could develop into a pandemic,” one attendee, Lee Sang-won, an infectious diseases expert at the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told Reuters.

A week after the Jan. 27 meeting, South Korea’s CDC approved one company’s diagnostic test. Another company soon followed. By the end of February, South Korea was making headlines around the world for its drive-through screening centers and ability to test thousands of people daily.

South Korea’s swift action stands in stark contrast to what has transpired in the United States. Seven weeks after the train station meeting, the Koreans have tested well over 290,000 people and identified over 8,000 infections. New cases are falling off: Ninety-three were reported Wednesday, down from a daily peak of 909 two weeks earlier.

Really detailed report at the link.

Not sure where this originated, because I saw it on FB...but interesting compliation:

Quotes from TP45

January 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.”
February 2: “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”
February 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”
February 25: “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.”
February 25: “I think that's a problem that’s going to go away… They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.”
February 26: “The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”
February 26: “We're going very substantially down, not up.”
February 27: “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”
February 28: “We're ordering a lot of supplies. We're ordering a lot of, uh, elements that frankly we wouldn't be ordering unless it was something like this. But we're ordering a lot of different elements of medical.”
March 2: “You take a solid flu vaccine, you don't think that could have an impact, or much of an impact, on corona?”
March 2: “A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and they’re happening very rapidly.”
March 4: “If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.”
March 5: “I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.”
March 5: “The United States… has, as of now, only 129 cases… and 11 deaths. We are working very hard to keep these numbers as low as possible!”

March 6: “Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. They’re there. And the tests are beautiful…. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.”
March 6: “I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it… Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.”
March 6: “I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault.”
March 8: “We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus.”
March 9: “This blindsided the world.”

Florida governor: 2 coronavirus cases 'presumptive positive' in the Tampa Bay area

Source: 10 news

On Sunday night, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said it wouldn’t be a matter of “if” but rather “when” the Sunshine State began seeing COVID-19 cases.

Shortly thereafter, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced two cases of the novel virus had been presumptive positive in the Tampa Bay area.

A March 1 letter appearing to be from Doctors Hospital said its patient was admitted in late February and is still there. When medical staff realized the patient might have coronavirus, the hospital activated COVID-19 protocols and identified everyone who had come in contact with the individual.

I honestly wonder who pays for this nonsense....

...only a few miles from my home.

Trump-themed Conservative Grounds coffee shop has opened in Largo

LARGO — Conservative Grounds coffee shop co-owner Cliff Gephart was getting pretty good at this.

He held a customer’s iPhone high and horizontal as he took a picture of a man in a red “Make America Great Again” hat giving two thumbs up from behind the desk in the “oval office," a back corner painstakingly decorated to look like the president’s work space.

Conservative Grounds, a new conservative-themed coffee shop at 13344 66th St. N in Largo held its soft opening on Saturday. The shop is at the end of a strip mall of diverse businesses including LGBTQ bar Quench, Jionjuku aikido dojo, Dharma Kava Lounge and Cosmos Cafe breakfast restaurant. The space had previously been the Atlantis Gentleman’s Club and more recently a hookah lounge.

The other principal owner, John Tatum, 57, owner of Tatum’s Bait Tackle & Grocery in St. Petersburg, said it had taken nearly six months to get the space ready. Gephart, a two-time candidate for St. Petersburg City Council owns Taco Cartel, a “taco sausage” company founded to “get around the stringent laws” that prohibit street taco carts but allow hot dog carts. His previous ventures included Rhino Film Studio and a 24-hour internet radio station.

I just can't help but think that outside money funded this mess. Regardless, I also wonder how they got the newspaper to do a write up about it. As Obi-Wan said, "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Bernie Sanders Launches GoFundMe After Tour Van Stolen Outside Debate

https://thehardtimes.net/news/bernie-sanders-launches-gofundme-after-tour-van-stolen-outside-debate/?fbclid=IwAR1M0aq_vmIvMUIw_q2T7L6h4XwxKq9Z4f3MA7z2dNqG-uYVv-wLrcVj4ZA

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders had his Ford Econoline tour van stolen from outside the Democratic debate earlier night, sources close to the presidential hopeful confirmed.

“Let me be clear: it’s not just the van I lost. I also lost my acoustic guitar, laptop, all my merchandise, and a binder that outlines my entire fiscal plan as well as some sick lyrics,” said an emotional Sanders standing on the street corner alternating his gaze in each direction. “But I don’t blame the criminal that did this, poverty is what drives crime and if the government had tried to help the lower class with jobs and education then I wouldn’t have lost all my damn CDs.”

Sanders is not the first politician to face a major setback on the campaign trail. Dennis Kucinich famously had a delay at the screen printing factory which lead to an entire presidential tour with no merchandise, which many experts believe lost him the election.

“Senator Sanders will certainly recover from this, it is just a small bump in the road,” said political strategist Kerry Mcgough. “But since he had been sleeping in the van while on his campaign tour he suddenly needs a place to crash every night, so until he gets a new van he will be sleeping on the futon in my living room. I know my wife is going to be pissed.”
