Tuberville: 'Our military is not an equal opportunity employer'

Tuberville is a racist asshole who hates our military

Once in a while, however, the far-right senator’s problems intersect. Bloomberg reported:

US Senator Tommy Tuberville said he objected to efforts by a top military official to recruit and promote racial minorities in the armed forces, saying equal opportunity threatens military readiness. “Let me tell you something. Our military is not an equal opportunity employer,” the Alabama Republican said in an interview with Bloomberg Television’s “Balance of Power” Tuesday.

No, really, that’s what he said.

As part of the same interview, Tuberville said he opposed Air Force Gen. Charles Brown Jr.’s nomination to serve as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff because, as the senator put it, the general has “some woke policies.” Asked for an example, the Alabaman said he’d heard Brown say “some things” about “race and things that he wanted to mix into the military.”

How long before the Trump Organization and possible TFG personally file for Bankruptcy

This ruling will cause a default on any debt that TFG and the Trump Organization has. The Trump Organization and possibly TFG individually will have to file bankruptcy. This filing should stay for some time the trial in NY state and TFG may be able to reorganize some or all of companies in other jurisdictions.

In theory, the bankruptcy court is superior to the NY courts and can reorganize the TFG entities outside the jurisdiction of this court. NY AG James will be a claimant in the bankruptcy proceeding. TFG and the Trump companies will still be liable for damages and the Bankruptcy Court should allow a trial or proceedings to liquidate these claims.

Trump expands criminal defense team

Judging from the filing on the possible gag order filed last night, TFG needs some good criminal defense attorneys

Donald Trump has added at least two veteran attorneys to help defend him in his multiple criminal cases.

Emil Bove, a former federal prosecutor who was co-chief of the national security unit at the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office, and Kendra Wharton, a seasoned white collar defense lawyer with Capitol Hill ties, have signed onto the legal team organized by Trump attorney Todd Blanche.

In recent days, Bove joined Blanche’s firm, while Wharton launched her own firm and is expected to partner with Blanche, according to two people close to the legal team granted anonymity to discuss personnel decisions. Bove and Wharton are expected to work on Trump’s criminal matters, including the New York criminal case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and the federal cases filed by special counsel Jack Smith. Trump is also facing a fourth criminal case in Fulton County, Ga., and has hired a separate defense team for that matter.

The additions are the most significant new legal hires in months for Trump as he prepares for multiple criminal trials scheduled for next year. Bove and Wharton are expected to help fill out a team that was, in some ways, hobbled by the abrupt departures of veteran lawyers John Rowley, Tim Parlatore and James Trusty around the time Trump was indicted by a Florida grand jury in June.

Team Biden keeps using GOP's rhetoric for its own purposes

These ads using Maga nutcases words against them really makes me smile

But the details of the candidates’ rhetoric mattered. Former Ambassador Nikki Haley, for example, appeared on Fox News and complained about President Joe Biden being a “pro-union president.” It seemed like the sort of comments that might appear in a video from Biden’s own political team — and sure enough, it soon after became a video from Biden’s own political team.

A day later, Team Biden was eager to remind voters about Donald Trump’s far-right record on reproductive rights, so it released a video featuring the former president’s own comments on the subject.

Earlier this month, in the first Republican presidential primary debate, Haley also offered some criticisms of Donald Trump’s fiscal record. That, too, seemed like the sort of thing Team Biden wanted voters to hear — so it created a video featuring this rhetoric, too.

Perhaps the pièce de resistance came earlier in the summer, when Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene delivered a speech about the Democratic president’s progressive governing vision, which she meant as criticism, but which Team Biden put to good use by quoting her verbatim.

As the 2024 cycle advances, don’t be surprised if Biden and his team continue to let Republicans write their campaign ads for them.
