Biden plays a unique role amidst tragedy
Biden is our national grief counselor
https://twitter.com/washingtonpost/status/1159144526721769472
Speaking to those whove endured unimaginable loss, Biden said, Find a purpose, something that matters, particularly if its something connected to the loss you just had. . . . I get up in the morning and I think to myself every morning, is [Beau] proud of me? Am I doing what he wants? And Im sure that its the same way with you and a whole lot of other people.
He added that at a moment there will come a time when you think of the person you lost, and it takes a long while. But youll get a smile before you get a tear, and thats when you know youre going to make it. And so many people have gone through what Ive been through without the help I had.
Often chided for gaffes, Biden, we see, can be downright profound when discussing loss. Wrapping up, he explained, Sometimes its really dark, but there is hope. And think about what it means for those family members you have left they need you. They need you. And look, folks, thats why I think that it matters the stories of these people, for the public to understand that this is not just a statistic. This is this is who we are, who they are. I mean, its a and it really is about, you know, sort of reweaving that social fabric that holds a society together honesty, decency, hope, leaving nobody behind, giving hate no safe harbor.

Nothing in these policies affect the rights of states to legalize pot
Joe Biden supports decriminalizing marijuana, stops short of calling for legalization
Here are Joe Biden's real positions on decriminalization of pot https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/16/politics/joe-biden-marijuana-decriminalization/index.html
Joe Biden supports decriminalizing marijuana, a Biden campaign spokesman told CNN, but the former vice president isn't going as far as calling for the drug to be legalized on the federal level.
"Nobody should be in jail for smoking marijuana," Biden told voters at a Tuesday house party in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Asked by CNN if the former vice president supports legalizing marijuana, Andrew Bates, a Biden campaign spokesman, said Biden believes the drug should be decriminalized and that decisions on legalization should continue on the state level.
"As he said [Tuesday], Vice President Biden does not believe anyone should be in jail simply for smoking or possessing marijuana. He supports decriminalizing marijuana and automatically expunging prior criminal records for marijuana possession, so those affected don't have to figure out how to petition for it or pay for a lawyer," Bates said in a statement to CNN.
