a thread that should not have been locked

Snooper2 posted a lovely story in General discussion about talking to her/his daughter about politics.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027803163

It was locked simply because "Hillary" was mentioned.

I strongly disagree with the decision of the forum hosts to lock it. The main topic was a child learning about politics. The primaries were used to illustrate how that child was learning .. asking questions and putting together the pieces of how government works.

Are the rules so rigid that the mere mention of a candidate's name warrants a lock? Context should be the primary driver in judging if a post is suitable for a forum. The context in this case was about a child learning about politics.

This post was entirely appropriate for the General Discussion forum and should not have been locked.
