Ilsa
Ilsa's JournalThe Gentlemen on Netflix is a fun,
dark, Guy Ritchie production with hysterical characters.
A British soldier, Edward, is sent home because his father is dying. His father is a duke, and the title and property are supposed to go to the eldest male heir, an elder brother who is a playboy, bad gambler, and drug addict. But when the duke dies, he leaves the bulk of the estate, snd the title, to Edward, the younger son.
The younger son discovers that his father has been raking in $5 million a year as his cut of a secret cannabis operation on the estate. As he tries to work towards moving the business away from the estate, he becomes more involved in the criminal activities created by the ineptitude or stupidity of others. Hilarity ensues.
There is violence, f-bombs, brief nudity.
I watched first two episodes of Manhunt on AppleTv.
The first season is a dramatization about John Wilkes Booth. Frankly, it left me nervous, even a bit terrified. Booth and his Confederate-loving partners tried to assassinate the senior Cabinet as well as Lincoln and Johnson.
I hope no one feels inspired by this terrorism. Maybe the later episode where they are hanged will give them something to ruminate upon.
True Detective: Night Country Season 4
Anyone care to comment on the ending tonight? Overall, I loved the season. Phenomenal acting.

I wasn't thrilled to hear that Rachel was doing another
E. Jean Carroll interview, initially. But when Rachel and her guests started talking about the bigger picture, I changed my mind. Trump wants to be a dictator, and this trial and judgment show what he would be like as a dictator, and it is possible to stop him as he is held accountable for breaking the law in defaming EJC.
I've received 2 political town hall/ phone calls from Ryan Binkley.
He's a 50-something finance guy who started a church in Dallas. He thinks Americans aren't proud of the US any more and we need more God.
He believes that Trump will defeat Haley and then it will be just trump and Binkley for the nomination. I think he's hoping for a last minute grab of the R nomination when trump is convicted.
Anyone else hear from this campaign?
A couple of weeks ago I met a young man
at the grocery store who turned out to be a refugee from Iran, through Syria and Turkey. Really bright man who spoke English beautifully. He mentioned how happy he was to be here, and called the USA the greatest nation ever. I heartily agreed.
Last night, my fear of guns being used against me or my family in a public place made me want to leave this greatest nation ever. I won't, but I don't always feel safe anymore.
Another day go be proud of our President.
I love how he is listening to dozens of people tell their stories as first responders, medical personnel, family of victims. He shakes their hands, offers hugs and hopes they will be blessed and comforted. He has so much heart.
So the drug company Glaxo Smith Klein or Pfizer (or both?) has been pushing
their RSV vaccines for seniors over 60 years old, particularly if they have any form of COPD. Problem is, only Medicare Part D (Advantage) pays for it, as far as I can tell, and I don't have Part D. The vaccine can cost as much as $330 at a pharmacy, doctors' office, or County Health Dept.
I have a supplemental policy, but I haven't found out yet if they cover any or all of it.
Anyone know a way to get the vax cheaply?
Going through a rough time in life has reminded me of
numerous coping mechanisms I've used in thepast to help me not fall completely apart. One of them is that I have to make myself take care of my hygiene, dress neatly, comfortably, and slightly too nice for the activities of the day ahead. When I do this, I feel better about being in public, asserting myself when necessary, and] looking for joy and ways to help others as I "get out of myself." These are days when I'm happier, even when faced with grief. I dress the way I want to feel.
Maybe senators are innately better at dealing with their professional jobs without needing to look a certain way. But I tend to think most people will behave in a more constrained, prepared, formal manner when they are dressed more formally. How often do DUers make comments on the way Rs are dressed, and how it represents their behavior? Like Trump in that tuxedo, it doesn't fit, he doesn't fit, he looks like a slob, he acts like a slob.
I really don't understand why Fetterman can't at least wear a shirt and sport coat and trousers, and why Schumer won't put a time limit on relaxing the code.
