Yes, they are reputable - I give to them every year.

Formerly known as America's Second Harvest. They are a highly rated and well respected organization.

This - trump has screwed the farmers again and again.

My heart breaks for them. How many of them may lose their farms at this point? It's so sad to see the incredible loss of someone's livelihood and hard work, the loss of related jobs all along the food production chain, the criminal waste of tons of food... it's mind boggling.

Home since March 10

A couple of grocery deliveries, a couple of neighbor chats at a distance, yard and handy man that has been with our family for years stops by sporadically to help with mowing and weeding. We also chat at a distance. He's going to help me plant vegetables next week. Family phone calls, individually and group at least once a week, occasional calls to less visible neighbors to check on them. A drive in the country to check on some tree farm property once - kids out of school had set a fire. Do you know how fortunate we feel that they essentially performed a controlled burn for us? Strange luck.

For the most part, I'm OK with it since I'm a homebody anyway, but it is wearing. It's one thing to stay home because you don't feel sociable, it's another to stay in because you have to.

I miss going to the Y twice a week. I hired a personal trainer (reasonable and worth every penny) to help me keep exercising on a schedule. I was lifting weights raaarr. Oh well, time to dust off the bike now that traffic to the bike path is so much lighter.

Not enough tests for the living, not enough tests for the dead.

Are the death counts reliable? Highly unlikely, so the data is garbage at this point.

That's Dougherty County. Albany is the county seat.

Albany, Georgia, colored in a deep purple, currently has the highest death rate in the nation. The city and its surrounding rural area has fewer than 150,000 residents, but by April 3 more than 40 had died from COVID-19. Health officials have traced this intense outbreak, which disproportionately hit the local black community, to a funeral in late February, attended by someone who was unknowingly carrying the virus.

Southwest GA is not a fun place to be right now.

Lengthy, scathing indictment. If you need one source of information

for how much of our current situation really is Trump's fault, this article covers it well. It's a shame Frum stopped short of the obvious point: Trump should step down. Frum teed it up magnificently, then walked away.

I've been wondering about that.

Especially because of all the noise about not using a classified server. Regardless of whether it was classified, someone had to share it inappropriately for it to go anywhere. Capt Crozier didn't leak this to the press. Who did? Somebody decided to sacrifice him to shut him up and it backfired bigly.

Lawmakers call for removal of Navy Secretary over USS Roosevelt debacle

Lawmakers call for removal of Navy Secretary over USS Roosevelt debacle

Multiple lawmakers called for Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly to resign or be fired after a massive backlash to Modly’s decision to relieve Capt. Brett Crozier, commander of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, after the latter urged his superiors to evacuate the ship for fear of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading throughout his crew.

Lawmakers levied their calls against Modly on Monday after Task & Purpose published leaked audio of the service's top civilian using a speech to Roosevelt sailors regarding Crozier's departure to lash out at the captain over the leak of his now-infamous letter to his superiors. [snip]

The leaked audio and transcript of speech prompted lawmakers, already on edge over the abrupt removal of Crozier from the helm of the Roosevelt, to demand Modly resign or be removed from his position by Secretary of Defense Mark Esper. [more]

All Democrats, naturally.

Let's see... Captain Crozier writes an email asking for help and someone else leaks it

to the San Francisco Chronicle. Cue outrage that he didn't use a classified email server, blablabla.

Meanwhile Modly accuses Captain Crozier, in front of his former crew, of purposely going to the media... and he does so using a Navy ship's loudspeaker.

Okey dokey.

Well said.

Enduring people whom we disagree with or find abhorrent are just part of the things that we must do as humans.
