Philadelphia to End Indoor Mask Mandate

Source: KYW

Philadelphia's indoor mask mandate is coming to an end.

"Due to decreasing hospitalizations and a leveling of case counts, the City will move to strongly recommending masks in indoor public spaces as opposed to a mask mandate," a spokesperson with the Philadelphia Health Department told NBC10 Thursday night. "Given the latest data, the BOH voted to rescind the mandate."

The spokesperson did not reveal if the decision was effective immediately but said more details will be revealed on Friday.

The reverse decision comes only a few days after Philadelphia became the first major city in the U.S. to reinstate its Covid-19 mask mandate for indoor activities as the highly contagious omicron BA.2 subvariant drives new Covid cases higher across the country.

I got a first look at MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's new social media platform

Business Insider

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's Frank Social — his social media platform, which he hopes will become a Facebook replacement among right-leaning social media users — is finally ready.

Insider got a first look at the web-based site for Lindell's Frank Social early on Thursday. A mobile app — which Lindell told Insider is pending approval on the Apple and Google Play app stores — is also in the works.

...snip...

Frank Social has the basic functions of a social media platform, including allowing people to follow each other. The platform also comes with a function to post one's thoughts, or, as the site says, whatever's "on your mind."

One thing missing from the platform at the moment is a messaging function. People can post comments and like each other's posts. And despite billing itself as a Facebook alternative, Frank Social allows users to share links to posts on other platforms like Facebook and Telegram.

Senate front-runner in Pennsylvania embraces Biden and progressive agenda

CNN

Jennerstown, Pennsylvania (CNN)Lt. Gov. John Fetterman swung by the heart of Republican country in Southwestern Pennsylvania, in the reddest of red districts, where then-President Donald Trump trounced Joe Biden by more than 55 points and MAGA signs are still apparent on seemingly every other street corner.

But rather than moderate, Fetterman leaned into his progressive views.

As he worked a few dozen voters at the Flyin' Lion watering hole, while wearing a hooded sweatshirt, basketball shorts and gym shoes on a snowy spring day, Fetterman renewed his push for marijuana to be legalized nationwide, touted the role of immigrants in the US, called for the transgender community to be treated equally, decried efforts to pare back abortion access and backed calls for stricter gun laws, including a ban on semi-automatic rifles.

In an interview with CNN, Fetterman didn't hide his palpable frustration with Democratic senators, saying, "I am disappointed in our caucus" for not increasing the $7.25 federal minimum wage, and he blamed West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin for blocking the Biden agenda, leaving his party "floundering."

Club for Growth rejects Trump Jr's ultimatum as GOP civil war intensifies

Source: Raw Story

Tensions between the Trump family and the conservative powerhouse Club for Growth spilled into the open on Thursday.

It started with the Trump family freaked out that the Club for Growth chief David McIntosh ran ads against J.D. Vance in Ohio's GOP Senate primary even after Trump endorsed him. Trump instructed an assistant to send a profane text message to McIntosh, New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman reported.

She noted Donald Trump, Jr. had bashed McIntosh publicly for backing Josh Mandel in the primary.
