What I Witnessed in Gaza Is a Holocaust: Palestinian Writer Susan Abulhawa

We speak with Palestinian novelist, poet and activist Susan Abulhawa, who is in Cairo and just returned from two weeks in Gaza. “What’s happening to people isn’t just this death and dismemberment and hunger. It is a total denigration of their personhood, of their whole society,” says Abulhawa. “What I witnessed personally in Rafah and some of the middle areas is incomprehensible, and I will call it a holocaust — and I don’t use that word lightly. But it is absolutely that.”

I know the population of Gaza was approximately 2.3 million Palestinians before October 7th.

I know that Netanyahu enabled Hamas to power in Gaza in the beginning because he didn't want a democratic secular Palestine Nation.

I know the last election that Hamas allowed in Gaza was 2005 and that almost half of the population are under 18.

I know Israel has estimated Hamas members to number about 30 thousand.

I know that after this is over, Gaza is going to need some serious real estate rehab and probable car rental demand as their automobiles have been destroyed as well.

I know that Jared Kushner has long time close family connections to Netanyahu and that he invested 150 million of the 2 billion dollars in Saudi money almost exactly one month before October 7th on or about September the 6th in an Israeli holding group of car rental and real estate rehab investments.

Jared Kushner's Saudi-backed firm investing $150 million in Israel's Shlomo Group

Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners is investing $150 million in acquiring a stake in the automotive and credit operations of Israeli company the Shlomo Group. This marks the first investment in Israel for Affinity, which has raised $3 billion, two-thirds of which came from Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund.

ITO Shmeltzer Holdings LTD, widely known as Shlomo Group is a holdings company in Israel,[1] consists car services, automotive, real estate, communications infrastructures, insurance, shipyards services and logistics, and more. The group was founded in 1969 by Shlomo Shmeltzer, the company started out as a car rental, leasing and automotive services company.[2] and today, through subsidiaries, it handles car services, real estate business, communications infrastructures, insurance, shipyard services, logistics and more.[3]

the group invests in various industries. Today, the Shlomo Group consists of Shlomo Holdings, Afcon Holdings, Shlomo Insurance, Shlomo Motors, Shlomo Workshops and road services, Israel Shipyards and Israel Shipyards Port (ISP), Shlomo Real Estate, Gold Bond Group, Tadiran Telecom, Talma Shlomo Tourism and more. The group have a fleet of over 78,000 vehicles, In 2022, Shlomo holding's consolidated turnover totaled 4.9 Billion NIS.[4]

This may all just be a cosmic coincidence, that Netanyahu has an exceptionally low approval rating, covered up the assassination of Palestinian journalist that was shot in the head as she was covering the West Bank, eliminate the Israeli Supreme Court and that MBS went a step further and dissected a Washington Post journalist.

It may be that both leaders are just misunderstood and that Kushner suddenly gained some outstanding sign from heaven as to the timeliness of his investment, but I have serious doubts about it.

Justice matters.

There was no excuse for the massacre and atrocities of October 7th and there is no excuse for committing mass murder against an entire people of 2.3 million.

The war is meant to defeat, and destroy Hamas. Hamas is responsible for the deaths of civilians. The war will continue until Hamas is defeated and until the hostages (however many may still be alive) are released, or their remains returned.

If people just accept that this war will not end any other way, then maybe they'll be more focused on securing the surrender of Hamas rather than getting Israel to give up abruptly, leaving Hamas in place.

"It's a war. War is not meant to be proportional."

(snip)

There is a striking photo, taken in 2015, of a deactivated nuclear missile at an air and space museum in Tucson, Arizona. Written in dust on this missile are the words, “Now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds”. These words, from the Sanskrit scriptural text the Bhagavad Gita, are famously attributed to J Robert Oppenheimer, the architect of the atom bomb.

(snip)

Back in the olden days, war may not have not been proportional but neither was freedom and that's why the United Nations was created in the first place.

And it'll be all my fault. LOL. If y'all really want peace, then you'll have better success at getting Hamas to surrender and return the hostages and getting Israel to give up. That's the ONLY way that this will end.

If more civilians die, then it's because of Hamas.

Civilians and non-military targets are subject to multiple protections under the Geneva Conventions:

https://www.ohchr.org/en/instruments-mechanisms/instruments/geneva-convention-relative-protection-civilian-persons-time-war

Are you saying Israel can ignore those conventions or that the Palestinians, since they have no state, are not protected?

Nobody is asking Israel to "give up". That's a fiction.
How will you know when Hamas is defeated? If the leadership is in another country, can it ever be?

Unless Hamas leadership is controlling everything telepathically from their safe locations, they can still be defeated, of course, when their "army" of terrorists are unable to continue attacking.

Israel will not stop until Hamas has been defeated. I'm sure that they have their own metrics in what constitutes their defeat or neutralization. You'll need to check with them to make sure.

Israel is still obligated to avoid civilian targets and infrastructure. "But Hamas" is not an excuse, and you can't make that claim credibly when I have yet to see a target that hasn't been bombed because "human shields". Hamas' strategy, whatever that may be, doesn't appear to be affecting anything the IDF does, and the IDF doesn't seem to be all that concerned with Palestinian casualties.

"but Hamas"

Strikes on aid convoys, cutting off food, water and fuel, particularly affecting hospitals, etc. It's not like Hamas is some sort of innocent saint in all this, but insisting that Israel is blameless and has the right to murder anyone they please until they achieve a metric no one except Israel can determine is no less absurd.

And where was the military that day that we spend so much propping up? They were mostly up in the west bank supporting settler land grabs, rather then being ready to defend.

Israel has become the Monster.
