How serious are Vladimir Putin's nuclear threats against NATO? - DW News

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned NATO countries they risk nuclear war if they send troops to Ukraine. He made the threat as he delivered his annual state of the nation address ahead of an election in which he is the only serious candidate. Putin went on to say he'd be stationing more soldiers in Russia's West, close to new NATO members Finland and Sweden.

For more on this, we talk to Jade McGlynn. She's an expert on Russian politics and foreign policy with the Department of War Studies at King's College London.

And we talk to For DW's Eastern Europe Editor Roman Goncharenko, who joins us from Bonn. - Aired on 02/29/2024.
