"Bernie's Biggest Critic" has changed his mind.

Peter Daou publicly loathed Bernie Sanders during the 2016 primary. He just wrote a piece in The Nation in his support:

Bernie Sanders can beat Donald Trump—and it would be an epic act of self-destruction for Democrats to try and hobble his campaign.

Daou makes a point of noting he was not endorsing the candidate, however, he does believe the Senator's candidacy is an asset to the Democratic field, not a hindrance.

Bernie Sanders is unquestionably in the top tier of candidates for the Democratic nomination, and it would be an epic act of self-destruction for Democrats to plunge into an internecine conflict over his candidacy at a time when they need to marshal every asset to defeat Trump and his GOP cronies. I am calling on Democrats, progressives, and leftists to hit the pause button, to table our disagreements, no matter how intense, as we fight to preserve the rule of law and the last semblance of our democracy. We owe it to ourselves and our country.

And what's also amazing is how people now pretend they don't know who he is. Even though he used to be cited here frequently.

Would I vote for him against Trump? I'd vote for an orangutan over Trump! But I absolutely would not vote for Bernie as our nominee. I think his recent stance that incarcerated felons should be allowed to vote is just insane and disqualifying. Sure, once someone has been fully restored to society they should be allowed to vote--in every state--that should be federal law. But letting the incarcerated vote is just insane, and that will haunt him forever. What's next? Giving them full Constitutional rights? Like Freedom of Assembly, Freedom from search and seizure, Right to bear arms, and on and on--just insanity!!

in five of the many countries that have the same policy, my convictions were well formed before. Please don’t pronounce how others fell about things. It’s really presumptuous of you.

Disagree with the policy if you feel you should. Don’t ascribe reasons to others.
