(713 posts)The one thing I keep seeing is that Sanders and his supporters bring out big numbers at these rallies. There is a lot of energy there. If the Sanders Campaign keeps doing this, they might end up with a strong showing in South Carolina and beyond. If people come out so strongly just for a rally, there will probably be a strong showing in the primary on Saturday. Sanders and his people might surprise us.

Look at the visual in reply #1 (right here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1287&pid=593439 ) and keep pretending that people don't know the difference between a million or a few million and a billion, or tens of billions.

(94,520 posts)...if you have concrete objections to Steyer and Bloomberg, lay them out. The fact that they have billions in relevant in the abstract.

(3,678 posts)Meaning, if the scale doesn't bother you than that just is what it is. In the context of the merits of a candidate, it doesn't necessarily matter, either, as I think you're saying. But in the broader social and political context, it matters a great deal (whether you choose to believe that or not), and the impact on our electoral politics is one of the ways it matters.

If the visual Petrus linked doesnt make it clear, maybe a temporal comparison will help.
After a few decades in office, getting stable 6 figure income, fantastic government pensions, and a bestselling book, you'd criticize Sanders as irresponsible if he had much less than he does.
