(3,675 posts)And everything is already out there, which is not much and that is why they attack his followers . endorsers, surrogates, they can't get anything on HIM that will stick! This is Bernie's SECOND time running for president, don't you think they would have something out there by now?
Seriously what is holding everybody back from vetting him if he hasn't been vetted already?

Nope, no skeletons at all in Burnie's closet. Nothing to see. He's as clean and pristine as the driven snow.

No, Bernie has not been vetted, and the pushback against it from certain supporters indicates that they haven't seen it, and would prefer he not be vetted.

The GOP does not want their oppo out there, because he's their first choice as the nominee, and they don't want to torpedo him until he's the nominee.

It was a seriously disturbing article.
It claims Hillary had access to information she refused to use so as not to alienate Bernie supporters in 2016.
This article gets posted periodically, so you might keep an eye out for it.

(16,616 posts)Guardian: Bernie Sanders' real problem isn't Elizabeth Warren. It's Donald Trump
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jan/16/bernie-sanders-elizabeth-warren-donald-trump
According to Eichenwald, the book includes damning material such as the fact that Sanders was on unemployment until his mid-30s, that he co-sponsored a bill to ship Vermonts nuclear waste to Texas where it would be dumped in a poor Hispanic community, that he honeymooned in the Soviet Union, and that he appeared at a 1985 rally in Nicaragua at which Sandinista supporters chanted Here, there / the Yankee will die. And then theres Sanders fictitious essay in which he described a woman enjoying being raped by three men
After the Trump campaign and Fox News got through weaponizing this research, the usual conservative charges against Sanders that his domestic program would cost nearly $100tn over the next decade, that he would ban individual health insurance, send taxes into the stratosphere, and sympathize with terrorists and leftwing regimes would seem almost benign. The Republican campaign against any Democratic presidential candidate is guaranteed to be ugly, but against Sanders it would be gruesome. The result most likely would be a Democratic wipeout on the scale of Labours under Jeremy Corbyn.

It's the opposite of a "pass". The Bernie-bashing is so constant that it's gotten monotonous.

(20,709 posts)Just pointing out that trying to pretend that Bernie hasn't been vetted or is getting some kind of "pass" is absurd. He gets bashed/"vetted" constantly throughout the media. And still he's ahead of every other candidate.

You react as someone who feels that anyone vetting him is simply trying to harm him, as if his campaign can't take it. One does not act in a hyper protective manner around someone that they feel will be OK without you shielding them.

(171 posts)Republicans and the media obviously want a trump second term. Theyre saving their ammo until about August if sanders is the nominee. I suspect his campaign will be dead in the water in about a month. The only question then will be if we can save the house..

(4,959 posts)and has had oppo research done on him more than once.
I don't think there's really anything that juicy on him, or much that we don't already know. He hasn't amassed wealth, unlike many of his colleagues. He takes hits for bits and pieces of his legislative record and some shit he wrote 50 years ago. He gets criticized for his involvement with socialist groups and parties, and his general identification with socialism. But everyone knows all that stuff already so, while he will get hammered by the RW on a lot of it if he's the nominee, I don't think he'll lose any potential support over it.
If there was more, I think it would have come out by now.

(1,205 posts)Sanders supporters do not research his kinda sorta plans, let alone educate themselves on Sanders history. They do not care. All Sanders has to do is repeat the same thing the last five to fifty years that the middle class white man is being picked on and he is going to help them.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
I don't think you can make such assumptions or a blanket statement about any candidate's supporters. Honestly, my impression is that most voters, regardless of their candidate, do not do much research on the person or their proposals. Also, I firmly disagree with you take on Bernie's message - it's not about "whites" or "men," it's a message about class. The demographic that offers him the least support is white men. His coalition is more diverse than most candidates.

(1,205 posts)have had it tough. And lots of applause, .... Sanders is interrupting the applause to say, but.... they are doing better. It is middle class that is in trouble and has no champion. White. Men. Rural. Middle class.

(3,678 posts)Sanders has displayed solidarity with marginalized groups his entire career, and it's quite clear his sympathies lie with the working class and the poor, regardless of their characteristics otherwise (race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.). If you've been paying attention for 50 years, it would take an act of will not to notice that.
