(18,641 posts)It's obvious by his commitment that he cares more about the country than Trump ever will. Also obvious that he doesn't plan to use the office to increase his wealth.
Again, I don't want to hear in November that "at least we can hold our heads high".

(17,600 posts)But let's not nominate him, okay? Let's nominate someone BETTER who can also WIN.
And whoever they are, if it isn't YOUR preferred candidate, just think, at least you can say "at least it wasn't Bloomberg!! We dodged a bullet there!!" and get to work.
(meaning the "general you" of course. That means me, too.)

(22,166 posts)You could have just said yourself that sometimes people do hatefully make fun of others.
Ironic that you're making hay out of my comment that people don't make fun of others. Maybe I'm naive, but I'd like to think we're better than this, and that's why I made the post/comment, to begin with. I guess I was wrong. That people do make fun of others and their comments.
My point is that Americans as a general rule don't make fun of people overall. We're overall nice to each other. Maybe in jest, or for comedy, and it's also a tool to convince others of other viewpoints in a less hostile manner, but we don't go around and laugh at people's conditions, and other such stuff. We for the most part have moved on.

Which is more important to you? Something said in bad taste and in ignorance but in jest, or the creation of a monumentally important organization that ushered in the legalization of gay marriage?

(18,641 posts)It was given to Mike as a gag gift. It's obvious that it was meant to get a laugh from him and never published. The quotes are unsubstantiated and undocumented.
You're going to hear a lot of awful things about any candidate the Dems dare put up. Most of it will be untrue, but if you buy into the nonsense the Russians win again.
Of course Hillary pimped out under aged girls who were delivered along with a pizza. Was that the kind of candidate we wanted?

(8,059 posts)I think anti-Bloomers need to come up with a credible assault charge or N-word tape, and that would decisively kill his candidacy. Not shit that lots of people used to say in the 80's and 90's--it's distasteful but mostly provokes shrugs.

(1,773 posts)No, this isn't the type of person I want as our party's nominee. I want someone who both understands and stridently defends our core principles as Democrats. Mike Bloomberg is not that person.

(1,773 posts)photo op for him. No one ever accused him of not being a skillful or intuitive politician.
However, his twelve-year long abuse (and defense of that abuse) of the civil rights of POC says all you need to know about what this man is at his core. And that's not something that can be summarily dismissed by his apologists (paid or otherwise) as some minor, microscopic peccadillo from his past, as they seemingly want to do with all the horrible shit this man has done and said, even up until a couple of years ago.

(20,709 posts)Basically all the anti-Bernie people (e.g. Neera Tanden) were outraged that Bernie would accept an endorsement from a guy who had made offensive comments in the past. None of those same people seem to have the slightest concern about the offensive comments Bloomberg has made.
