As a Teamster Rep for a few decades and being on the Health and Welfare Negotiating Team,we administered our own Health and Welfare Program with the help of a Private Administrator. Don't think the Ladies and Gentleman of those Shops who have first dollar of maybe a five dollar co-pay are about to give that up. And the Culinary Workers have similiar Insurance coverage.

Do these M4All people understand that people are not about to pay 25 hundred dollars out of pocket before coverage kicks in,or only cover 80% of the total bill. Geese,it is not going to happen. BTW,M4 all is going to cost you at least 144 dollars per person per month.

I served on that Team. Heard rumors about a UAW issue, but again, the rank and file figure those issues out with in minutes. And Yes,M4 all as it stands this minute would have co-pays in many states. Here in Nevada(Clark County)we are zero with United Health. Don't know about other Counties. This zero co-pay came as a Harry Reid getting involved years ago.

Again, the usual source of anything negative about Unions comes from K Street and anything Koch or Walmart funded.

Thu Feb 13, 2020, 10:00 PM
Feb 2020

Maybe we should tell Canada and England that they are doing it wrong and they need to switch to a 2 class healthcare system so the Insurance company and doctor lobbies can enriched the politicians, and offer a sub-par medical plan for poorer people with astronomical deductibles. Don't even get started on big Pharma. We are holding people hostage so that the politicians and insurance companies get rich while our fellow citizens die or have to ration life saving medicine like insulin because they cannot afford the very thing to keep them alive.

Senator Hubert Humphrey came with the Swede Norwegian model legislation during that time frame. Vietnam and a assassination was the game changer according to one of his Sons whom lived in our neighborhood at that time.

The Insurance Companies went nuts and cranked up their Lobby Shops targeting each and every Dem as a Socialist Communist politician. The Rethugs have that single payer as their campaign fund raiser.

There is no $2500 out of pocket expense or deductible before coverage kicks in. Also, M4A pays 100% of everything - primary care, emergency care, prescriptions, specialists, therapy, etc.

I’m not sure where you are getting your information, but it’s no wonder you dislike that plan, given how it is nothing like M4A.

despise those leaches. Had to put up with their BS for years when Contract re-openers hit. But,the bottom line,we had the facts in our files on hard copies and our data always ruled the day. Our Payments required a four person sign off in our Local and they generally dropped their BS after about ten minutes knowing there was some one else waiting in the wings for our business.

What makes Politicians suckers is,the need for campaign cash. That in it's self is the real story.

anyone who has ever been a union member knows that union members traded raises for those health insurance benefits. The unions forced other employers to give health insurance as a benefit to stay competitive. If I were still working, I would not give up my health insurance willingly.

I've been a supporter of unions my whole life. The teacher's union helped my parents greatly. Unfortunately, there isn't anything like that for my wife and me. Like 85% of the workforce in NV who aren't members of a union, we just have to grin and bear it because MFA is too expensive and unreasonable.

So we will continue to pay over 3 times that $144 per month. On the plus side, this year our annual deductible (that we also can't afford) went down from 10K a year to 8K.

37. Biden calls on Sanders to take accountability for supporters' threats
Sat Feb 15, 2020, 08:14 PM
Feb 2020

Joe Biden called on Bernie Sanders to accept greater accountability for tactics and rhetoric of his staunchest supporters and do more to discourage it, after what he called the “outrageous” threats on a prominent union that criticized his healthcare plan.

Representatives of the powerful Culinary Workers Union, which represents 60,000 workers supporting Nevada’s gaming and hospitality industries, said this week that supporters of the Vermont senator had “viciously attacked” its members after its leadership warned about the risk to their negotiated health plans under a Medicare for All system.

In an exclusive interview airing Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” Biden said the Vermont senator “may not be responsible for it, but he has some accountability.”

“You know me well enough to know if any of my supporters did that, I’d disown them. Flat disown them,” Biden said. “The stuff that was said online. The way they threatened these two women who are leaders in that Culinary union. It is outrageous. Just — just go online.”
