Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumFact-Checking Joe Biden Before the Iowa Caucuses
The former vice president has made inaccurate claims this month about his record on Social Security, race and foreign policy.
WHAT THE FACTS ARE
Mr. Biden tried to defend his record on Social Security and birth control with questionable claims.
WHAT WAS SAID
Antonia Hylton, a reporter for Vice News: Do you think, though, that its fair for voters to question your commitment to Social Security when in the past youve proposed a freeze to it?
Mr. Biden: No, I didnt propose a freeze.
at the Brown & Black Democratic Presidential Forum last week in Iowa
False. In 1984, faced with budget deficits under the Reagan administration, Mr. Biden was a co-sponsor of an amendment with two Republican senators that froze for one year nearly all military and domestic spending, including cost-of-living adjustments to Social Security benefits.

and giving the GOP sound bytes for the fall campaign.
All this mud slinging by Democratic candidates against each other will be used by Trump against the eventual nominee.

While running for re-election in 1996, then-Congressman Sanders said at a news conference that the Social Security system had been adjusted before, and adjustments will have to be made again. The Sanders campaign has assailed Biden for saying Social Security was in need of adjustments in a 2018 speech, with Chief Policy Adviser Warren Gunnels on Wednesday quoting an interest group saying the term was a euphemism for cuts.

(9,263 posts)that would not go over too well today when he was a full blown socialist who campaigned for the Socialist Workers Party in the 1980 and 1984 presidential campaigns...man that would play well wouldn't it in Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Texas, Nc & SC, Wisconsin, Michigan, even be problematic in Illinois, Washington, Oregon, Minnesota,
The issues are about today, who can best lead a nationwide landslide and permanently make the GOP a minority party. I don;t see how Texas is would ever won by a sanders or a warren nomination in any reality
