Now, she is jumping on the Joe Rogan bandwagon.
That being said, remember what happened with Trump. The more racist and misogynistic his campaign became, the more his followers loved him. It was not a defect it was a feature.

What's the deal with you about digging into old posts about people. Strange practice.
By the way, you're incorrect in your post above, "some people" didn't "insist the term "shim" wasn't a slur", in fact no one did.

(7,681 posts)Some people didn't. Just one person did. No digging required I just remember these things.
But here's the deal. When some people have problematic histories on certain issues I think it's relevant to show that when they turn around and try to use these same issues as a cudgel to attack their political enemies. That's the deal.

(12 posts)(I don't know if it was a mistake or not) then it was a political calculation. If it was a political calculation, it says that Sanders does not expect to lose supporters because of it, and has already written off gaining support from those who would be particularly upset with him for touting the endorsement. Maybe the Sanders campaign is starting to get a bit ahead of itself, looking toward the general election when he hasn't yet won the primary. If he was going to tout this endorsement, I think he should have waited till after he had won the primary (tactically speaking). On the other hand, perhaps he is trying to strengthen the argument that he has a better shot of winning in the GE because he can appeal to people who might otherwise vote for Trump; and that this will help him win the primary.
I do think Sanders has a pretty good history with regard to LGBTQ and POC so accepting the endorsement doesn't mean he is suddenly turning his back on everything he's ever supported. On the other hand it could certainly backfire just by looking like he is taking them for granted.
Bottom line, I guess I think it was a mistake. In which case I would expect to see him make some kind of statement to try and make amends to those who have been angered by it, whether or not he is certain that they will vote for him as a result. I personally had never heard of this Rogan guy before, and now that I've learned something about him I am uncomfortable with Bernie touting the endorsement even though I am somewhat leaning towards Bernie in this primary.

(12 posts)I was trying to differentiate between the campaign intentionally vs unintentionally upsetting some people. In this case "mistake" and "miscalculation" would not be the same thing. In one case, the campaign would have not realized that their actions would cause an uproar; in the other case, the campaign would have been aware of it, but calculated that it would help more than hurt them.
You seem to think it was an intentional act, but a miscalculated one. I think it is more likely to be an unintentional error, but if it was a calculation then it was probably a miscalculation. Slight difference between us, but we both agree it was probably not the right move for his campaign.
