Bernie is my first choice, but whoever wins the primary gets my vote in the general.

I like Bernie. Hope he gets nominated, but if he doesn't, I'll vote for Joe Biden gladly. I'll wear a Vote For Joe hat and T-shirt to the polls even - gladly and proudly, but I liked this video so I posted a link to it.
That's all.
It's not "us against the other Democratic nominees". It's about us - U.S. citizens - against the republican party in 2020.

There will be a single person nominated by the Democratic party to represent us in the general election. I really believe that Bernie Sanders represents the best possible candidate to represent us. You may not. I'm very okay with that.
Why cast dispersion and not respect my opinion? My opinion is as valid as yours is. If your candidate wins the nomination, I will absolutely vote for that candidate in the general election. Will you vote for Bernie if he wins the nomination?

Would you vote for Bernie in the general election if he were the democratic nominee?

(658 posts)I'll vote for Bernie in the primary and I hope to vote for him in the general election. I will state again that if he is not nominated, I will vote in the general election for whomever is nominated as the Democratic candidate.

(12,006 posts)I'm pretty sure I'm the one who started the slogan "Bernie has my heart, Hillary has my vote," unless someone else came up with it simultaneously.
However, I am not supporting Bernie in the primaries this time around because I was disappointed in the way he conducted himself after the polls closed in California last time. He took over a month after that to endorse Hillary, and he didn't do enough, IMO, to bring his supporters around and dispel some of the misperceptions they had about the process being rigged against him. Too many of his supporters, including educated people like my sister-in-law, actually believed he got more votes and the superdelegates stole the nomination from him.
I'm not saying he cost Hillary the election, and there is plenty of blame to go around for 2016. But with the election as close as it was, Bernie dragging the primaries out a month after the voting was done and allowing the divisiveness to fester didn't help. Hillary was a class act after she conceded to Obama in 2008, and she deserved the same from Bernie.
Of course, I will support Bernie if he gets the nomination, but I'm not supporting him now.
