New polling shows this: inverse relationship btwn college education and trump-voter

white Non-college men are the most likely to vote for trump - still.

The GOP knows this. That is why they have no interest in making it easier for this group to go to college (excluding their OWN children, of course).

This pushes me toward free college, free community college, all manner of assistance with any type of post-high school training or education. It lifts people away from ignorant trump-like beliefs.

primary today, I would vote for:

Reactionaries do not want education for the masses as "learned folk" cannot be controlled.

Knowledge was considered an asset that could be used to control access to power and often resources such as food, land, water, shelter etc. It has been a tribal thing for as long as humans have existed. Tragicallly it has always been used, like religion, as a means to control people. Typically that meant peasants, villagers, workers, and other non-deities whose control was required to ensure the survival a group of people and to secure the safety of a specific tribe. Once a society agrees to or is forced to) adhere to a specified set of norms they can then be allowed to either chose to educate themselves or be permitted to join a guild or caste of knowledge guardians and sharers. Even today in societies with high average literacy rates, people that are especially adept at reading and sometimes writing are elevated to a position that is considered more prestigious and desirable, with better access to specific resources (i.e. choice food stuffs,etc.). In China, India and many other countries including the US children are brutalized by parents that want them to achieve a stage of education and learning that wll put them in that specific, elite category of people. If you don't necessarily test well, or have been deprived of learning experiences (or just brushed the opportunity off) the chances of your escaping a certain class designation is great. In the US certain people can also lean on the financial assets of their parents or tribe to live a life that isn;t abject slavery. All countries tend to be profoundly racist. They use racism to maintain structure, disallowing those that are unlike themselves or that want to exist outside of certain norms (especially sexual, religious or nationalist objectives of a typically homogenous tribe) as other. But the protection racket has been a societal control mechanism for thousands of years. Less knowledgeable and less educated and less physically powerful people have exchanged survival needs for adherence to norms. When a tribe feels threatened they start to eliminate people, regardless of ther educational level, and claim down on financial and educational resources. Yes, slave owners rarely allowed slaves to learn, much like women in Asia were prohibited from learning anything for thousands of years, or other than appointed or self chosen men were allowed to keep the books of knowledge of a specific religion. As currently constituted the GOP just really sucks. They feel entitled, yet have nothing but guns and racism and sadism and false religion to protect their existence.

"We need a Democratic Party that is not a liberal elite but of the working class of this country."

"Over the last 30 or 40 years the Democratic Party has transformed itself from the party of the working class ... to a party significantly controlled by a liberal elite ... ."

"The Democratic Party cannot continue to be just the party of the liberal elites and people who have money."

Why call Democrats elites? What's the point here?
