Fortunately I read the entire article.

Kent brought up the appearance of companies seeking favors from Joe Biden by putting Hunter on Boards and other things. But the staffer told him that Biden had too much on his plate to focus on what was happening with Hunter. Kent also told investigators that there was NO DISCERNIBLE adjustment in Obama Administration policy toward the Ukraine after Hunter took the job, the Administration was still pressing the Ukraine to clean up corruption in government and companies.

The expanded version doesn't change the fact that it does look bad and many voters aren't interested in explanations. If it looks bad, it is a liability.
