HOUSTON -- With an eye to early caucuses and primaries now just a few months away, Julián Castro sought to use the Democrats' third presidential debate in his home state as a springboard.

(5,352 posts)He had to do something. Anything. To get attention and separate himself from the pack. Well, he got attention, and separated himself from the pack. Not the way he wanted, of course. He won't be rising in the polls. But then again, if he had not attacked Biden the way he did, he still wouldn't have risen in the polls. So in the end it wasn't a gamble that paid off. Pretty much the same as Yang's move to give $1,000 a month to ten lucky persons. Simply a gamble that didn't pay off. Six months from now all of this will be forgotten, like it never happened. Because both of these guys will have dropped out. The only thing they'll have in six months is the title, "Former Presidential Candidate". Maybe that's all they wanted from this all along.
