Saw her on the Daily Show a few weeks ago and she sounded pretty reasonable but she is definitely on the Woo train.
Keep her away from the nomination

This wins the award for most bizarre tweet ever....
While I believe in the power of the collective mind and even if you want to call it prayer, she completely undermines the whole point of her message....not to mention that she seems to be in agreement that "thoughts and prayers" is a strategy for things.

Such as-- only conscious prayer has any chance of being fulfilled...

(10,216 posts)How can you believe such things with NO evidence. Prove your extraordinary claim. Test it, prove it. Science has found absolutely NOTHING that proves what you think can affect weather.
"Intent is very, very powerful, and the intent of many is many times very powerful. A few may even be able affect the weather, at least temporarily."
Prayer has been proven time and time again to do absolutely nothing. Isn't that intent? Shouldn't those thoughts have done something? And why weren't the thoughts of the people who live in the Bahamas able to turn the hurricane? There are 395,361 people living there. Why didn't their thoughts move the hurricane away?
Prove it. If this were true, you would have received a Nobel. And you and all the people whose thoughts can affect the weather, would be millionaires by now. Think of all the money you and they could make making it rain in droughts, making it stop raining in floods, making it rain to put out wild fires and making tornadoes move away from cities and towns and making hurricanes turn and destroy the Bahamas. The military would hire you to make destructive weather patterns attack their enemies. There would be just so many wonderful and deadly things you could do it your thoughts, if "intent" could control the weather even temporarily.

(8,685 posts)Weather is controlled by a incredibly complex interaction of the laws of physics and those laws never change. They have been the same since the universe was created. To alter weather by someone praying would be a violation of those laws.

(10,216 posts)If it could help, people would be paid to do it.
And what about all those poor people who prayed but their prayers were never, ever answered? How does this magical being in the sky decide whose prayers he is going to answer? It's almost as if he is totally random and unpredictable with answering prayers. Just like you would expect if there was no magical being in the sky. Just like you would expect if prayer did absolutely Nothing.

(10,216 posts)God can't be proven one way or the other.
But there all sorts of test you can do on prayer. And they have been done. And prayer fails every time. Test it out yourself. It's easy to prove it does not work. You always get results that are no better than chance.

(25,905 posts)that prayer does such things. If prayer is so effective, then why are there any mass shootings any more? Or, why don't most people get cured from Cancer when their church prays for them?
During a recent cold snap one winter, a cousin of mine posted something on FB about praying for the homeless who were sleeping on the streets. I said that visiting them and giving them blankets would be far more effective than a prayer. She didn't respond, but I hope she got in her car and gave out a few blankets. Probably not. People that suggest we pray for some magical relief from whatever rarely do anything actually useful I've noticed.

(13,485 posts)There just aren't enough voters in the Bahamas to matter. Maybe we could adjust our storm models to compare the power of the storm with the number of praying people in a given area. This would give us the ability to measure storm movability as well as help us map the areas that have weak faith or low god voting numbers that may deserve an omnipignorant deity.
