Few Democrats Want a President In Their 70s

June 20, 2019, at 9:22 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

A new Pew Research poll finds just 3% of Democratic or likely Democratic voters think the optimal age for a president is someone in their 70s.

The leading candidates in the last democratic presidential primaries would both have been "in their 70's" while being president.

I work out and eat well, but no longer want an intense job. He's definitely hiding something. Is it illegal to secretly weigh someone? There are stand on scales for livestock. Maybe one could be put under a mat by his podium. He could be told that the mat is there to make him look taller. The digital output could be projected to the audience. Just my fantasy.

that's what I thought. It would be like taking a poll that asked, "Ice Cream: Favorite flavor among the big three, Vanilla, Chocolate or Strawberry?" and interpreting the results of 34% vanilla, 33% chocolate and 33% strawberry and concluding, "Most people don't like vanilla ice cream."

Reagan (70-77), tRump (71-73) and Ike (63-70) whose second term expired just after he turned 70 -- so he really doesn't count.

With a record like that, I'm 100% with the 97%.

be leading all the other candidates.

The 70s aren't usually an optimal age for anyone.

OTOH, we don't have any candidates out there with the background and experience of Biden, or even Sanders and Warren, who are substantially younger than those three are.

Few people ever get that as well.

We rationally weigh one concern against another concern and reach a conclusion that rarely, if ever, possesses everything we want... unless of course, we're simplistic purists worshiping a sacred cow.

The vast majority of democrats will fully and enthusiastically accept the democratic nominee, no matter his or her age.

Since I would prefer newer thinking in government, I would probably answer the question in a similar fashion. When it comes to voting, however, I won't wring my hands about age and will work my butt off to get people to the polls.
