Democratic Primaries

is blessed with candidates this weekend.. I am trying to line up to see anyone I have missed that will be close to my area.. wow.. and at 7PM tonight the Des Moines Register Poll comes out.. and we will see how everyone is doing.. I am so excited.. it has been March since we have had a good reading on where people are.. I have a feeling for the Democrats in my area.. but what is the rest of the state thinking..
These are the moments that I love about elections.. not the negativity.. there is enough of that.. but seeing how everyone's message is coming across..
Good Morning DU!!!

Might as well complain that gravity is terrible. It is, of course! Every time we try to fly, we fail. But what's the point of seeing it as ruining our lives instead of accepting it as necessary? What's amazing is that our nation can work as well as it does when only some of us do our job every 2 years even marginally okay.
I'm jealous too. We've never lived in anything like an Iowa, and I've never seen a major candidate who didn't require devoting half a day, a couple hours in the car, and lengthy walks from and to parking and lines/standing around.

(58,785 posts)People trying to create fake grievances and undermine trust and confidence in the ability of government to function for us like to push this stuff.
The average crowd at an NFL game is something like 60,000. What's the typical draw for a president visiting a city, and just what is he "in touch" with up on that podium? They also know our states are all run by their own governments, where most decisions that impact our lives, good or bad, are made. They don't have a say in most of them.
It's pleasant to turn on the TV and know a presidential motorcade is making its way through Atlanta, only an hour and a half away. But what Georgians need from them is that they are competent and knowledgeable about our issues when elected, stay informed, read reports, listen to representatives come to brief them on events in our state and those of our problems that the federal government can be of help with, and ask our legislators what they're doing about it.
That's real caring and being in touch, and it's mostly done at desks and in easy chairs. Every time someone pushes resentment and neglect based on number of physical visits I know there's yet another person trying to seduce me into screwing myself. They're practically coming out of the walls and ceillings these days.
