My mother is an 87-year old Georgia native who was on the front lines of the Civil Rights movement in the South. She and my Daddy come from politically prominent Southern families and they were frequently on national news and written about in major news publications during the 60's. She is politically very savvy. AND she is a Bernie supporter.
She has donated to the Bernie campaign and has endorsed him in every way. She has never signed on to the Hillary campaign, never given money, never offered any support (although she has said she will stand 100% behind her if she becomes the democrat nominee.)
She came to stay with my family over Christmas, and while here, she checked her email on her iPad. Lo and behold there was an email from Hillary Clinton thanking her for her support and expressing how much that means to her. My mother was dumbfounded. SHE HAS NEVER GIVEN HER EMAIL ADDRESS OR ANY OTHER INFO TO THE HILLARY CAMPAIGN. She felt violated and kept asking, "How do they have my information? I have only given that to the Sander's campaign." I told her that I had read of other instances since the "data breach" where Sander's supporters were suddenly being solicited by the Hillary campaign. She has since received 2 other emails from Hillary's campaign soliciting money, and she doesn't know how to stop them.
PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS!!! A TRULY INDEPENDENT BODY MUST INVESTIGATE!!!!
Thank you.
ON EDIT: A number of post below have asked if my Mom has made other donations to the DNC or signed any petitions. Bernie is the first campaign my mother has ever donated money to, and she never signs any petitions of any kind.

(23,156 posts)You might want to pass this information on to the Bernie Sanders campaign.
I am a Bernie supporter, not at all for Hillary. However, I have not (so far, at least) gotten any emails from Hillary, but if I did I'd likewise be a bit pissed.

(12,882 posts)What I generally stuff into those envelopes are the different requests from party loyals whose names are being used to generate donations. Heh - can't BEGIN to remember how many fat envelopes I've gotten from Bill Clinton - or how many of those stupid "surveys" I'm supposed to answer so that the DNC can get a grasp of what it is that pisses off us "Democrats" as well as a grasp on our credit card numbers.
I full well realize what I send likely goes straight to the circular file, but somebody has to open them just to make sure they aren't tossing some nut job's donation to the collection plate.
Ya know - while we're talking about this, I have a question I'd like to throw out for consideration. And that is : WHY are the envelopes that are provided in these mailings, ALWAYS too small to contain what we're supposed to return without folding it twice.

(8,175 posts)all candidates have your name and mailing address
That doesn't mean they all have your e-mail address, but there are other ways to get that. I got snail mail from the DNC, asking for money, and I just tossed it. I have not received any kind of mail from Hillary, but I would not be at all surprised if she has my e-mail address from the many places I've given it on-line (like move-on) and signed petitions.

Maybe I should check them to see if they think I sent them money -which would happen some time around the 12th of NEVER. (538 posts)...I also received two Hillary E-mail's thanking me for my support and being part of her team! I too, NEVER have signed up for anything from her from the GET GO & ended my membership with DNC a long time ago! I didn't support her @ all in 2008! I unsubscribed right away BUT HOW did her campaign get my E-Mail ADDRESS? THIS IS SO BS are they using her to get her poll #'s up? I trashed it but here is a copy from my trash:

Welcome to the team.
R-----
Thank you for being a part of this campaign. I'm thrilled to have you on my team, especially at such a critical time.
I'm counting on you to make sure we have the resources we need as folks begin voting. Can you chip in $1 right now?
It's time to act on raising wages and reforming our immigration system. It's time to change our gun laws and make education more affordable for our children. It's time to make sure that all people are an equal part of our political process and our communities, regardless of your gender, race, or who you love.
It's time we make sure that every single child has the chance to live up to their God-given potential.
We can't wait any longer. I need you to stand with me by chipping in to support that vision right now, R ---- It's the only way we can get this work done:
Thank You,
Hillary

I'm a regular small donor supporter for Bernie; usually every 2 weeks when I get paid. I'm curious if others who received her E-mails which began on Dec.22, 2015, are also donators for his campaign &/or if they've ever signed up to support her.

In CA at least, this is open to all campagins as the requesting entity is a certified candidate for the party records.

(16,389 posts)It's likely that those emails were sent to everyone on the DNC list, rather than specifically from Bernie's list. That said, the fact that nobody in that ridiculously expensive campaign had the brains God gave a duck with respect to what those emails said.. To give the impression that anyone not on their own list this year is a HRC supporter is asking for a. LOT of very negative reactions.

(2,379 posts)Since they can only give the maximum amount directly to a candidate, is it possible that someone (or someones) are trying to funnel more money directly to her in other people's names (i.e. the names or Bernie supporters possibly obtained during the data breach)?
Is THIS something that anyone has brought up before (not merely having a larger email list)?
Maybe everyone who has started getting mysterious thank you emails from Hillary should look on one of those donations sites to see if it reports any donations to Hillary in their name ... and if so, report that, too.

(14,204 posts)Debbie and the DNC are so frightened of Bernies surge that they would "recommend" this Josh fellow to help Bernie with his voter data
This Trojan horse would "find" the hole left for him to find. And then go further and knowingly breech Hillary's files (without downloading or saving) so that it was obvious.
The DNC goes on high alert and the Bernie campaign immediately fires Josh. The first part of the plan to smear Bernie as a cheater is already done, but this is where the biggest part of the plan actually kicks in. Now they cut off access to Bernie's campaign so they are blind to the servers, and promptly steal all his voter data - exactly what they first accuse Bernie of doing.
Then they restore Bernies access, and now, despite the public stance by Hillary in the debate, want it to all die down, now that they have gotten what they want.
Its just a theory

Bernie Sanders for President
Jxxxx,
I wanted to make sure you saw today's email from Ben and Jerry about our important FEC fundraising deadline the most important yet of our campaign.
Your contribution before our deadline will go directly towards paying for the campaign staff who can train volunteers to knock on doors, make phone calls and spread the word about Bernie's message. Voters in Iowa and New Hampshire will go to the polls and caucuses in just about four weeks and we are making great progress, so this is urgent.
Make a $3 contribution to our campaign before the final, official FEC fundraising deadline of the year on Thursday night.
The average contribution from a supporter like you affords the campaign nearly two extra hours of work from a field organizer who can mobilize about ten volunteers at a single canvass or phone bank.
If we all chip in, there's no limit to what we can accomplish together. Please see Ben and Jerry's email below.

Hi, Ben here. Ben Cohen
And Jerry.
Jerry Greenfield Jerry
Ben
The people, not the corporation. Ben Cohen
Weve known Bernie Sanders for 30 years. And for over 30 years, Bernie has been fighting for workers rights, veterans, students, and senior citizens.
Jerry Greenfield Jerry
Ben
If he werent so inspiring, hed be boring. Ben Cohen
As we travel the country campaigning for Bernie, we hear a lot of people saying, "I love Bernie, but I am not sure he can win."
Jerry Greenfield Jerry
Ben
But poll after poll shows Bernie is the most electable Democrat. And thats because we all know in our hearts that the things Bernie is talking about are true. The system is rigged. Ben Cohen
In the end, this election is going to be about big money versus people power.
Jerry Greenfield Jerry
Ben
So volunteer: knock on doors, make phone calls, talk to your friends. Ben Cohen
Wear your Bernie gear, put a bumper sticker on your car, and a sign on your lawn. But today, we have one more request.
Jerry Greenfield Jerry
Ben
Make a $3 contribution to Bernies campaign ahead of Thursday's important FEC fundraising deadline, the last one of the year. Ben Cohen
In our view, too many candidates running for office now-a-days are financed by corporate interests.
Jerry Greenfield Jerry
Ben
If youre a corporation, its the best investment you can make. The return is extraordinary. Ben Cohen
Too many politicians sell out cheap.
Jerry Greenfield Jerry
Ben
But not Bernie. His campaign is funded by over TWO MILLION individual contributions, averaging less than $30 each. Thats something we should all be very proud of. Ben Cohen
I made a few of those contributions.
Jerry Greenfield Jerry
Ben
And weve also spent a couple hundred dollars purchasing ice cream for campaign events. Ben Cohen
But with one month to go until people start voting, we need to ask one more time for our friend Bernie.
Jerry Greenfield Jerry
Ben
Make a $3 contribution to Bernies campaign ahead of Thursday's important FEC fundraising deadline, the last one of the year. Ben Cohen
Every time Bernie ran for office in Vermont, people would say he didn't have a chance.
Jerry Greenfield Jerry

But Bernie not only gets elected, he gets re-elected. Ben Cohen
And together, I know were going to shock the political elite when we win in Iowa next month.

One example of the hundreds of Clinton supporters on DU, Kos, etc... doesn't prove I'm wrong, it proves you found one example. That's it.
That said, I don't really care either way but you can bet if those letters were more widespread, as you claim, there would be threads about them here and in other locations from her supporters explaining why people are wrong on Sanders' side. Your example doesn't prove or disprove anything.
Ineeda
(3,626 posts)I don't care either way either, but you've contradicted your claim...
"There's one thing strangely absent from this conversation. It's any mention from Clinton supporters getting Sanders' e-mails recently. So posting proof "doesn't prove or disprove anything." As you say -- funny. Hilarious, as a matter of fact. And I never claimed these were widespread. I have no way of knowing that one way or another. But more than almost anything, I despise dishonest claims such as yours. Funny, indeed.

My guess is that's because I haven't sent in money to Bernie's campaign, though I am on his mailing list. My guess is all of those complaining of receiving the mailings are people on his donor list...

I get them on a regular basis from just about every Democrat on the planet (including Charlie Crist) and left-leaning organizations, like Move-On, Emily's List and Mother Jones. I don't take it as a nefarious Hillary data-breach conspiracy. They all know that Democrats are as generous as we can be and that Dems need our money to fight the Citizen's United bunch.
