Why these? For ONE FUCKING POST out of 68,500. Out of 35,500. Out of 31,500. It's like a certain care was taken to single out these prolific long-time posters and, yes, leaders. I've seen many posts by SBS and HRC supporters saying similar things - a lot gets said on a freewheeling political forum open to anyone who's willing to log in. But it gets passed by with a hide at most. Yes, these three all technically ran afoul of TOS violations, so the punishment is technically justified, but of the 100's of 1000's, even millions of posts to DU, why these select few, and why now?
If we were barnyard animals we'd not notice as our friends and allies get picked off. Or we might notice, be alarmed for a few hours, then forget and go back to munching hay. But we aren't barnyard animals and I don't think our forgetting, our deadly complacency is counted on. I think the opposite. I think the point is to condition us to self-censor. To bow. To know our place, to know who's boss and to know what candidate is protected. I think the point is to show us that although we might think this is our home, we're only here on sufferance and it isn't democracy, it's bought and paid for
The money is flowing and those on the receiving end are acting like there's no tomorrow.

A time out should be just that. Allowing a back door way of harassment just seems silly.

(1,962 posts)Which is why posts like those are okay, I guess. While some of us probably get the chair for posting one wrong thing, because we want ponies or support the wrong candidate or whatever.
I know. Look at me with my post count. Trust me, I've been reading here for many years, despite the few posts. And not only am I bothered by seeing some great posters ousted, but, I'm thinking it'll be my time soon. Sad.

I had to turn off the so-called "debate".
All that talk about "Muslims" got to me. I mean, wtf?
It was all so wrong right down to its bones.
I wasn't impressed by any of it and I think the problem boils down to the body politic allowing the MSM to dictate all terms of political debate, right down to the format. There has to be collusion and heavy-duty graft for that to be carried out.
I could hear the frustration in the candidates voices, but they were trapped.
They had to play out their roles in this media circus and none of them were doing well.
Nothing about the format allows for any depth of discussion or control of the topic, the direction.
It was a disgrace.

1. If that's the case, and if Admin still PPR'ed him, then we can conclude that they did the math and considered the loss of revenue to be an acceptable trade-off.
2. Whoa--that means I've paid for about 1.2 sets of braces.

Other than that just remember all animals are equal but some are more equal than others.
The TOC Manny was banned for saying he would not vote for a particular one of a set of current competitors in the still ongoing primary if they won said primary is a rule that it would appear does not exist for those that single out Bernie sanders as the individual they would not vote for, I have counted 16 such incidents since yesterday morning and I do not read every thread. None of those posts have resulted in PPR - some animals are more equal than others.

(40,656 posts)no right to respect. I suspect I will be banned eventually. Keep winnowing the voices and show the world what you are. I am a leftie and that is anathema here now. I am a long time FDR dem but that also is the enemy. WTF? I miss you, Manny. You are a good soul and this place is smaller because you are gone. Ban me.
I responded to a thread once from my phone that does not list the group names where they originate. I tried to figure it out and I couldn't find it. I said I would always speak out when I didn't agree especially when the facts were contrary to the opinion posted. It was unfortunately the HRC group which I found out when they banned me. I don't care. I don't read or post there usually but the title of the group wouldn't show on my phone.
too bad. I would hate to be so afraid that someone elses words made me want to cast them out. That doesn't sound like strength to me.

(38,613 posts)Some troll joined DU, and posted some name-calling about Sanders supporters in the HC group. I served on the jury and I voted to hide. They were PPR'ed promptly.
I admitted in the thread that I voted to hide the troll's anti-Sanders post, so they banned me.

I'm voting for Bernie in the primary.
I find it outrageous that discussing who one might vote for in the general PRIOR to us having a candidate somehow makes us disloyal to the party or the site. We're expressing our support for our primary candidate. And we're using hyperbole to do so. Get over it.
DU is going to be an interesting place when Bernie wins the nomination. I expect that if the current behavior on this site continues, that it will collapse right afterwards.
It sucks, but that appears to be the way things will go.
And for those too lazy to look at my profile, suck on it.
