By PAIGE SUTHERLAND
In a forum with NHPR Friday afternoon, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders outlined a clear standard for who he'd nominate to the Supreme Court if elected.
Sanders said before he'd tap any new justices to the bench, there is one test they'd have to pass.
I will not nominate any man or woman to the Supreme Court unless that individual is loud and clear in saying he or she will vote to overturn Citizens United and do that as quickly as possible, he told NHPR's Laura Knoy and Josh Rogers, referring to a Supreme Court decision that loosened restrictions on spending in elections.
Besides vowing to keep money out of politics, he also added, his justices would have to strongly support womens right to choose. And when it comes to his cabinet the Independent senator from Vermont said members of Wall Street will not play a big role.
On Saturday Sanders will be hosting two town halls in Keene and Plymouth.

(1,268 posts)It comes across to me in the same manner as if a prospective employee was asked by a manager " will you increase my output by 50% over last year?" Well, of course any schmuck is going to say yes to get the job.
So it appears a bit odd to say how he would select his SC nominations.
From how I understand the process, a prospective SC nomination has their previous rulings researched.
And how is someone from his staff going to know how a potential nomination feels about Roe v. Wade? It seems you would really have to know a jurist from historical rulings to have any idea of how a potential justice feels.
But good on Bernie for the passion to overturn CU. I want it tossed in the garbage too.

(41,600 posts)are investigations, arrests, trials and convictions of the entire Bushco clan who took this country to war based on LIES, illegally invaded another sovereign nation, Iraq, and sent our economy into the trash. WAR CRIMES should NEVER be ignored and dismissed just because it's a U.S. President/Administration who committed the war crimes. That administration needs to pay for their crimes!
I hope Bernie afrees.
