Bernie Sanders' 'True Believers' Pack Boston Campaign Event

Last edited Sat Oct 3, 2015, 11:58 PM - Edit history (2)

Bernie Sanders swept through Massachusetts Saturday, drawing large crowds in both Springfield and Boston.

More than 20,000 people came out to see him in Boston, filling the stadium floor at the Boston Exhibition and Convention Center. A few thousand did not fit inside but stayed in cold weather and watched the speech on screens in an overflow area outside

You guys are the true believers," Sanders said, addressing those in the dark outside who gave him a celebrity's welcome after his hour and half speech inside the arena.

"Thank you for freezing out here," he continued standing on a platform with a microphone and waving to the crowd over their cheers. "Were you able to see the speech?

Over 20,000 Showed up to Feel The Bern in Boston
This story has been updated with info from Bernie’s official campaign.

Boston was Feeling The Bern today perhaps more than any other city Bernie Sanders has been to yet. Early estimates put the crowd inside at 26,000 plus jammed into the Boston Convention Center and another six to eight thousand in an overflow area that wish they’d shown up earlier. Bernie’s campaign however has come out with a figure that the crowd was over 20,000. So we’ll say the crowd was between 20K and 32K. Either way it’s still a whole lot of Berners.

We had 26k. I was a little surprised and very impressed with the number of young people who attended I took the train and had the opportunity to talk a lot of people. The vast majority of people on the train were going to the rally.
There was an accident on a bridge right before the Modal Center and we had to leave the train and wait for buses. By the time we arrived at the Modal Center the half mile line in your photo from Boston was about the size of the line, 3 or 4 people wide, that was waiting in Portland. I had to run the other side of the building, where luckily the lines were shorter, or I never would have made it in before they reached max capacity. On the trip home I was carrying my Bernie sign from the rally. It was packed in the train and I numerous young people strike up a conversation about Berne and the rally. They were engaged and knowlegible on Bernie's positions and message.

I am very hopeful that Bernie is really going to get people to come it and vote in the primary, including young people. The energy and effort people are making to attend his rallies is very encouraging.

And that per the African American political consultant on MHP this morning, Bernie has no hope to win the Democratic nomination?

She kept rolling her eyes anytime someone suggested Bernie's chances on winning the nomination are increasing.

All I can say is keep the political revolution rolling.

She's in & out of those gated estates in 2 hours or so.That's how it went for her "Conversations with Hillary" soiree in my suburb.

Arrive
Use the rest room
Give a 20 minute, feel good talk

Then it's 30 seconds each to pose for a single picture each with anyone who coughed up $2,700. (Memo to campaign staff re photo ops: Move em in, head em out - keep those dogies movin' -Rawhide!)

And it's buh-bye, Hillary.

Let's follow the bouncing ball and sing along:

Move 'em out, head 'em up,
Head 'em up, move 'em on.
Move 'em out, head 'em up:
Rawhide.
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in,
Ride 'em in, cut 'em out,
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in:
Rawhide!
Hah! Hah!

Movin', movin', movin',
Though they're disapprovin',
Keep them dogies movin', rawhide.
Don't try to understand 'em,
Just rope an' throw an' brand 'em.
Soon we'll be living high and wide.
