(41,262 posts)but the distance to Manassas, long rush hour commute on a week night in DC's bloody traffic and winter dark just didn't work. But we saw him at the Inauguration that January, what an historic occasion!

(5,519 posts)Once in Manassas and once in Fredericksburg. I saw Biden at a Very Small Venue in Woodbridge where there were more cameramen than attendees. Got shake his hand afterwards. It was real nice.

(41,262 posts)When friends moved to Gainesville years ago, I always teased them about how the battle (Manassas) was going. They liked that. Been in DC many years, and will relocate before too long. DC's a great area for sure with much growth esp. in the last 15 years. Met a fair amt. of pols in our time here.

(41,262 posts)Santa Fe and the local area several times, fell in love immediately, Taos which is awesome, and a bit of Albuquerque.
Last June I met Bernie at a Public Policy Forum in the DC area (not a campaign event) where he spoke to a packed audience of 500 enthused people in an auditorium with many supporters. Glad I thought to bring a roll of blue Bernie 2016 stickers to pass out.
Although I'd seen Bernie regularly on Thom Hartmann's program and on televised events, I was unprepared for what a commanding presence and force he is in person- his voice, manner, quick mind, knowledge and confidence and compassion.
For two days afterwards I was high naturally from that event! Bernie is a rare and amazing leader, like I have not seen in decades, or ever and I've seen quite a few politicians. We are so very fortunate that he has the qualities, ability and courage to try to lead this country in a better direction in these challenging times.

(2,376 posts)That's how I felt about Obama. So energetic and charismatic. I picked up a large 11x14 flyer that was only two colors red and white. Profile of Obama with a tie of Navajo design. Caption "Native Vote 2008". Of course I framed it!
I fell in love with Bernie listening to Thom Hartmann...learned so much was always in awe. America's Senator! He would be the best president of my lifetime!
Thanks for your reply. I just stole your Thomas Paine Quote and put it on my FB page!

(41,262 posts)of humor too. Clearly not one seeking the limelight or fame in any way, he strikes me as truly genuine and even ordinary in the way he conducts himself. That's very atypical for many in positions of influence. Power tripping and egotism are definitely not what he's about as you can tell from the Friday Brunch hour he does on Hartman's program. Refreshing it is and rare those qualities.
Thomas Paine we owe much for his brilliance and courage in helping our Revolution for Independence. Great mind and man. That phrase by Paine struck me as so very appropriate in these times. Go for it!

(50,983 posts)I honestly do not know where Bernie gets the energy to go at this pace. He is twelve years older than I am and I couldn't do one forth what he is doing. Bernie is Superman!
