~Bernie in Greensboro, NC~; Retrowire's DU LIVEBLOG!!! UPDATED with bernie selfie!!!

Last edited Sun Sep 13, 2015, 11:10 PM - Edit history (3)

Hello everyone!

So I'm getting ready for my first Bernie rally today, and just so I can keep you all updated on Bernie's first campaign race visit in the Tar Heel State, I'm going to be posting right here, LIVE as the event carries on today.

Here's the details of the event!

Doors open at 6PM, event starts at 7PM. No idea when it lets out.

And even though the doors open at 6PM, you can expect me to start live blogging now!

Also, I'll be uploading photo's of the event in realtime to this shared Google Drive Folder: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0By_AwDVj_xg2QWZYZm1qcEpCSmM

So if you want to just click that link, and refresh it every once and a while, you'll see all the photos that I upload from my phone at the event.

I also have a higher quality camera that I'll be using for photos, those will not be uploaded in real time. I'll make a photo thread of those when I get home after the event, at which time, I'll write a nice little article for you guys!

That said, I'm super excited to do this!

This will be my first time ever attending a political event.

So log in, keep pressing f5 to refresh this page, sit back and enjoy the perspective of a political greenhorn like myself.

Also, feel free to ask me questions at anytime, I may not get to all of you, but I'll try. Whatever I miss, I'll get to after the event.

Let's FEEL THE BERN!

UPDATE: welp! that was terrific! I'm sorry about the slowdown in my posts during the speech. I had to pay attention to the man. It was incredible and as of now my brain is a bit scrambled.

So there's a few pictures in the link above for you to peruse, but that ain't all there is!

Tomorrow, I will write up an article describing my first political rally, accompanied with all the best photos I took!

Tonight was terrific and so incredible. I got chills, I screamed, I even cried a little. Bernie Sanders truly is something different, and I am incredibly proud to volunteer for him and do whatever it takes to get him in the white house.

Also, I shook his hand and got a selfie with the man himself!!! My wish came true!!!!

sorry about the angle of the shots, people were crushing us against the rails!

We don't need their 'spin' on politics.

Btw, look out for Bernie2016TV who will probably be there also.

It's amazing how people, like yourself and so many others have become citizen journalists, undermining the efforts of the Corporate Media to send their 'message' rather than report as they should be doing.

Lol, reminds of when Hillary went to the Senate to ask for funding 'so we can get our message out' because, she said, people were not 'getting our message' now due to other media, like AJ and RT among others.

I wondered why on earth Congress would be asked to do this, to fund a 'message'. And no one seemed to think this was disturbing, at least not in DC.

Mon Sep 14, 2015, 12:49 AM
Sep 2015

Repubs should not cut the State Dept's Budget. She referred to all the relatively new State Channels, Al Jazeera, RT, CCTV eg, and how successful they were. That WE were losing the 'Information War' and she wanted to set up a network for the US to change people's perceptions of the US.

Hillary to Senate on State Dept Funding 201

Meanwhile she says Al-Jazeera, CCTV and Russia Today are killing it: "Al Jazeera is winning. The Chinese have opened up a global English language and multi-language television network, the Russians have opened up an English language network. I've seen it in a couple of countries and it's quite instructive."

Clinton says she is leading an effort to spread U.S. propaganda through new media, with twitter feeds in Arabic and Farsi.

Lol, the reason all those other channels are successful, is because they report real news, which she more or less admitted.

107. It was in 2011 when Repubs were trying to cut the State Dept Budget.
Mon Sep 14, 2015, 12:43 AM
Sep 2015

She went before the Senate to explain why the State Dept needed more money. See her remarks here. They are to me, and were at the time, quite chilling:

Hillary Clinton Says Al Jazeera Is Putting American Media To Shame

Hillary Clinton was defending her department budget in front of the U.S. Foreign Policy Priorities committee this morning on C-Span.

She says a major reason the State Department needs money is because "we are in an information war and we are losing that war."

Clinton said private media is not good enough to handle the job: "Our private media cannot fill that gap .....

She mentions that China has launched its own English Speaking network CCTV (which is pretty good btw) And Russia too has done the same with RT. She states they are all doing a better job while the US isn't 'getting its message out'.

This is what I found to be disturbing:

Meanwhile she says Al-Jazeera, CCTV and Russia Today are killing it: "Al Jazeera is winning. The Chinese have opened up a global English language and multi-language television network, the Russians have opened up an English language network. I've seen it in a couple of countries and it's quite instructive."

Clinton says she is leading an effort to spread U.S. propaganda through new media, with twitter feeds in Arabic and Farsi.

Propaganda! And she said without any awareness that this could be viewed as a problem.

Here's another link talking about Hillary's references to these networks WHY these other channels are resonating with so many people. It's worth reading:

Why Al Jazeera is Better

they wouldn't have a problem with spreading around more propaganda.

What's remarkable is they didn't get WHY people were watching AJ back during the Bush years. We got NEWS, not LIES and propaganda there. So while she grudgingly praises them she is planning to do the opposite of what they do.

Waiting for Bernie TV to show the live action. There's a thread in GD-P with another DUer who is there and he's/she's saying that the venue only holds about 5,000 and there are easily 10,000 waiting in line to get in AND there's more coming! And this is in the South. And the California polls showing he's under 20% against Hillary and most of the people out here don't even know who he is yet. And it's only September. And . . . and . . . and . . .

And you have to pay for it. Event organizers usually have to get their own wifi set up.

Im glad we came when we did. I knew how to skip the lines (legitimately - there's many entrances here to the coliseum) but to ensure a seat you had to be in within the first 15 minutes.

This one was FIRED UP AND READY TO GO! Incredible Energy

I hope he can walk around and unwind from this incredible Speech and the Crowd Response. It's gotta be something very special for him to hear.

Thanks for the posts and the others here who did their best to report and did a good job!

I grew up a few hours west of Greensboro. I love and miss the entire area. It warms my heart to see such an awesome turn out of folks in my home state for Sanders.

Thank you for the eye-witness report and the photos.

127. My Different Take on Bernie and Trump
Mon Sep 14, 2015, 10:11 PM
Sep 2015

Americans have been lied to for more than 50 years. 1963, Vietnam, Watergate,
Iran Hostages, Reagan, Bush I, S&L Scandal, Market Hype, Consumerism, Bill &
Monica, Bush v. Gore, 911, WMD's, 0% interest rates, Housing Crisis, GOP Congress,
Obama as populist. We've been media-hyped into a stupor, and we're coming out of it.

Trump is popular because he's not lying, he really believes the venom he spews. He
has little in the way of handlers or focus groups. If he did he wouldn't have that hair.

Bernie Sanders is tell us the straight dope on economic and political reality. We are
victims of a system that is skewed to the top. He is explaining it all in terms ordinary
people can understand. He is a man of wisdom, he is not lying, he knows everything
that is in the best interest of working people and America for the long run. He is the
real deal.

Go Bernie!
