Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumIs there some way we can stop ourselves?
I just looked at the "resignation" of a particular poster that long claimed to be Sanders supporter (but clearly wasn't) taking up tons of space on the greatest list and crowding out any posts about one of Bernie's biggest events so far.
Seriously, is there some kind of magic way we can communicate: "oh dear gods, do NOT respond to that person!"
Hell, even I jumped into it and stupidly kept it up on the list.
Would it break a rule if we had some kind of "do not respond" list?

(6,323 posts)I do more reading than posting in the time I've been here and sometimes it's just better for you to move on rather than focus on an individual. If enough of someone's BS shows up you'll start to see those threads naturally. Today I read a thread to this extent: "Yeah I put him on ignore a longtime ago." and "let him sit with the rest of the R's".
There's an ebb and flow, enjoy the ride and don't bail!

(5,390 posts)I came upon the same post and thought...please please would someone hang a "Do Not Disturb" sign on this thread. I signed in just to rec your op.

(10,337 posts)Some of them actually get paid for it. Ths is an anonymous internet site. Many think this is a community. It's not. There is some good discussion here. There is also a lot of trolling. Don't rise to the bait, just put em onn ignore.
So this is what I used for my 10,000th post since 2001? Oh well.

(14,691 posts)Yeah I almost responded to it but I'd just spurt and sputter. He's going on ignore right now. That list gets longer by the day...

(7,499 posts)I never believed he was a Bernie supporter. Hopefully, after his "resignation" post, the hosts will block him from our group.

(14,459 posts)He's...interesting. But I would also say that being too close to him is toxic, and nobody is going to change their mind reading that, because he is not a progressive.

I was so damned mad when I read that post (and thought...bullshit) that I replied, trashed the thread and then put him on full block.
Enough of that crap.
I'm actually glad you mentioned it.
GO Bernie!

Ignore probably is the best idea, kicking such deception is worst idea.

Black Lives Matter! Period! That's why I'm continuing to support Bernie Sanders
If I see the "I (never) supported Bernie but his supporters are horrible and drove me away " rise to the top, I k&r the copycat posts above it.
Other than that, try not to worry. Nobody takes that poster seriously (well, except, of course, that poster...smirk) and nobody believes he ever supported Bernie.

(62,325 posts)I am often inspired by some of the least inspiring posters here. Today was another one of those days where I intended to do other things, but then saw that and was totally inspired to post an OP.

(46,179 posts)I don't have anyone on ignore, but I do trash threads.
I want to see constructive discussion. I trash threads that are obviously flamebait, and do my best to avoid flamefests embedded in otherwise constructive threads. It removes temptation to jump into the flames.
It doesn't help anything, imo. It just feeds the flames and keeps them at the top of the page for everyone to see, over and over and over...
So I trash them.
That doesn't mean I don't engage people I think are sincere.

(38,613 posts)I too don't ever use the ignore feature. But I haven't thought about trashing threads until just now

(7,865 posts)Could we also stop posting on the Seattle BLM thing. The two protestors involved seemed to have been very sketchy (Palin buttons, destroying the democratic party, etc). Can we just stop tearing ourselves to pieces and go back to posting on policy again.
It is hard enough to get the media to pay attention to the biggest political events of the Summer.
We already know the people that are fanning this flame here and oddly most of them think that "Winning DU" is somehow going to reduce the Bern.

(10,237 posts)Why is someone with a gazzion posts whose been here since 1776 and in the Bernie group pissing me off ? Yet it happens .This place has become the definition of Borderline Personality Disorder , we walk on eggshells so we won't offend or risk offending those we don't know .We all have issues
us troll hunters especially ,maybe just maybe the good guy will win this time and I don't want to lose this dream because it will probably be my last .
