Bernie Sanders: Inaugural Ball?

It just struck me: I find it hard to picture Bernie having inaugural balls after his inaugurations, and certainly not ones paid for by corporations. Any thoughts on what would happen here? I'd expect a significant break with tradition.

NB: This is a Bernie Sanders Group Post: please make up nonsense about how awful Bernie is somewhere else!

A couple years ago coming back from VT with 2 of those little bottles of maple syrup, in my suitcase socks! that I forgot about got picked up by security in Hartford. The nice agent let it slide. First had Bananas Foster at Commander's Palace in New Orleans, and Profiteroles? Ever heard of those? like round chocolate eclairs popular in France & the French Caribbean- should be against the law! Yummm!

And posting those photos is just plain mean.

Yes, Vermont has white cheese privilege, or whatever.

Not always easy in Boston in January, but I'll do it, and with joy. Even if there's a blizzard with drifts 12 feet high. Bank on it. (no pun intended.)

For now, though, how about a singalong?

OK, talk to you
South America, Australia, France, Germany, UK, Africa

Calling out around the world
Are you ready for a brand new beat
Summer's here and the time is right
For dancing in the street
They're dancing in Chicago
Down in New Orleans
In New York City

All we need is music, sweet music
There'll be music everywhere
They'll be swinging, swaying, records playing,
Dancing in the street, oh

It doesn't matter what you wear,
just as long as you are there
So come on, every guy, grab a girl,
everywhere, around the world
They'll be dancing, dancing in the street

It's an invitation across the nation,
a chance for folks to meet
They'll be laughing and singing, music swinging
Dancing in the street

Philadelphia, PA
Baltimore in DC now
Don't forget the motor city
On the streets of Brazil
Back in the USSR
No matter where you are

All we need is music, sweet music
There'll be music everywhere
They'll be swinging, swaying, records playing
Dancing in the street, oh

It doesn't matter what you wear
Just as long as you are there
So come on every guy, grab a girl,
everywhere, around the world
They'll be dancing, dancing in the street

Way down in L.A., everyday
Dancing in the street
Cross in China too
Me and you
Dancing in the street

Don't you know
They'll be dancing
Dancing in the street (repeat)

I almost put Martha and the V's classic in Video, even waited for Black History Month, but figured I'd be pecked by younglings or RWers. Now I'll be up half the night dancing, swaying and finger popping, maybe some clogging too!
Seriously, in a book I have from around 1880, the writer said my family was a "musical race". He wasn't kidding, in the blood...

For the 'Naugral, Jan. winter regardless, it'll be time for some rocking People's Parties- block off all of PA Ave and downtown with stage performances that will make Times Square New Years Eve look like a kids birthday party.
Obama's inaugurals were great, the one we did was at SI, American Art with Anita Baker performing; great music, chow and atmosphere. What jubilation that Jan. evening '09 was-

What comes to mind is how Bernie announced his candidacy for
the President of the United States of America.

To the point, no pageantry, no glitzy hoopla, all business, on the Capital lawn
sandwiched between other appointments and senate hearings.

I doubt his inauguration would be quite so brief & perfunctory, but still ..

But, what would a US Senator know about stuff like that?

All our money needs to go to the NSA and the Pentagon.

Democratic Socialist George Orwell understood that. Not sure why Bernie doesn't get it?

Nice thread, btw. I haven't enjoyed one this much in a while.

Don't let that go to your head though.
