Winning over some friends

Gang.

I need some help. I am a recent convert to the Progressive cause (two months) I still believe we can do this but we need more supporters. I am working where I can and that is on my friends on the right (where I was) I have been asked to provide some good material so they can take an honest look. Anything you think is good to show a struggling person from the right to join us would be greatly appreciated.

I am fighting on. You guys led the fight, I came late to the show, so let me fight on the front I can fight on which is people like me from the right who are prime for a better alternative.

Believe it or not there are people like me over there who are logical and can be persuaded like I was.

I am for real... I know this may sound crazy but I get it now. I have unplugged from the Matrix. I am involved in about 40 different political discussions with my ex con friends. I have 5 already that have come over like me.

TruthOut, Common Dreams, Reader Supported News. Also, think of what your own tipping point was--that will help you to figure out how to move others your way.

conservatives as you know them.

The best source for Bernie Sanders is Bernie Sanders himself:

Here is my perspective. Progressives are principled and end up being right on most issues. Conservatives have been had. We were caught in an ideological trap. Conservatives have some decent core principles centered around fair play but the game has been rigged and conservatives have ended up trying to defend the ultra rich. While that could work for a while those days have long since passed. There is no more defense that can be made if you are a logical person.

Many on the right have also been caught in the manipulation game. You have seen it Social Media posts hot button bullshit memes that are designed my marketing firms and run by staffers. This election cycle is waking up many on the right to the shallowness of some core issues and Trump has exposed an ugly underbelly that you guys claimed was there and we were in denial. Then you bring on one of the phoniest cats to ever run for office. Ted Cruz. A champion of conservative causes ends up being a tool of the Establishment.

Once you allow all that to sink in then you listen to Bernie talk at the Brooking's Institute or at Georgetown and what you deduce is here is a principled person who espouses logical solutions to deal with the inherent unfairness in our current system. Then his foreign policy positions are dead on compared to the carpet bombing Isis to oblivion Cruz crap. I could go on and on but my friends are listening. This is why I am excited!!! You guys have lead this revolution. We get that. It is yours to lead. We are the ones who were wrong and were duped. Good leaders make good followers. Now is the time to follow on our end and join with you to take our country back. Does this make sense? I think the biggest selling points are these for now and that once we have a true democratic system we can honestly and earnestly debate the real issues like adults.

and equal common ground in my book. One thing you may find with this revolution is, good leaders make good partners.

I would much rather be a partner but once I have been accepted in the herd if you know what I mean. I feel the acceptance but I also know it had/has to be earned. I mean after all, many, if not most of you, have been in this fight for a while.

What I've learned since coming here (in 2003) is simply that most people just aren't paying attention. Uninformed voters, who vote party or because of something they heard on FOX News, are the biggest reason we're in the fix we're in now. But if you're informed and armed with the facts, everything becomes much clearer. Everything you say makes perfect sense to me!

It just dawned on me. Many if not most of my right leaning friends LOVE Teddy Roosevelt. Do you think it is a good bridge to show them how he progressively tackled the power brokers of his day? I see a lot of similarities.

FeelTheBern.org is a good source for information on Bernie's stances on issues. The site was created by a large group of volunteers and is very comprehensive.

If you have questions or are looking for sources on specific issues many of us here will try to give additional information.

Thank you for your support and best of luck with your conversations with your friends.
