A SC newspaper is reporting high numbers of absentee ballots coming in.

Higher than in 2008 by quite a bit (18,000 more- apparently).

Does anyone know if the college kids are on spring break yet? And if not that-- (Feb is too early iirc)-- So if not that, can anyone think of why this may be? For example, maybe there are a lot of military bases in SC with people overseas right now?

Also, I wonder what this might mean (if anything) regarding the outcome... I guess we'll find out soon enough...

"That may be the advantage of doing back-to-back Saturday primaries," Whitmire said. "Poll managers just did this a week ago." The 53,000 absentee ballots already returned in the Democratic primary has blown past the 35,000 cast in the 2008 primary, Whitmire said.

That isn't necessarily indicative of overall turnout, as absentee turnout has trended upward in recent years, he said. Whitmire urged voters to bring photo IDs with them to polling locations, and to bring their voter registration cards if they do not have their photo IDs. Voters can find their precincts here.

It'll be interesting to see how close (or not) the polls are.

More positive Bernie demos than Clinton:

Members of the Armed Forces or Merchant Marine serving outside their county of residence and their spouses and dependents residing with them (click here for additional information) (+Bernie)

Persons serving with the American Red Cross or with the United Service Organizations (USO) who are attached to and serving with the Armed Forces outside their county of residence and their spouses and dependents residing with them (N/A)

Overseas Citizens (click here for additional information) (+Bernie)

Persons who are physically disabled (N/A)

Students attending school outside their county of residence and their spouses and dependents residing with them (++++Bernie)

Persons who for reasons of employment will not be able to vote on election day (N/A)

Government employees serving outside their county of residence on Election Day and their spouses and dependents residing with them (This could be either or, depending)

Persons who plan to be on vacation outside their county of residence on Election Day (Negligible)

Persons serving as a juror in state or federal court on Election Day (Not applicable on a Saturday)

Persons admitted to the hospital as emergency patients on Election Day or within a four-day period before the election (N/A)

Persons with a death or funeral in the family within three days before the election (N/A)

Persons confined to a jail or pre-trial facility pending disposition of arrest or trial (+Bernie)

Persons attending sick or physically disabled persons (Started to say N/A on this one, but these people probably would love single payer healthcare, so +Bernie)

Certified poll watchers, poll managers, and county election officials working on Election Day (+Clinton)

Persons sixty-five years of age or older (+Clinton)

Persons who for religious reasons do not want to vote on a Saturday (Presidential Primaries Only) (I'd hope +Bernie since this would be many Jewish folks)

A win would be incredible, but unlikely, so close will do! If he narrows her 20 point lead to single digit...the corrupt corporate owned MSN will be gobsmacked and will STFU about how Clinton is inevitable. Delegates are split! Bernie will get a good chunk of them.

PEACE
LOVE

He's run an amazing campaign so far, and I like that he will keep going, no matter what happens today.

It's a true testament to his message (and ability to deliver it), that he has done as well as he has. After all, he has not just been ignored by the msm, but actively excluded, until Iowa and NH. And even now, it's hardly balanced. But, despite all of this, he continues to stay positive-- which helps keep me going. I'm so happy to be part of this movement!

And look at the enthusiasm he is generating among the young people! Some great pics coming out of Austin today!

From Decision Desk HQ on Twitter: Just under 53000 absentee ballots have been returned for the Democratic #SCPrimary. African-American voters account for over 40000 of them.

Checked it on twitter and that is what they are reporting.
