Bernie Sanders

Since Nevada, I have heard pundits proclaim that HRH has the nomination all but locked up. The Huffington Post had "Berned Out" on its front page today, and cable news said there's no way Bernie can "turn it around". All the while, they think the Republican nomination is still in play.
Wait a minute. In the Democratic race, there was a virtual tie in Iowa, a landslide win by Bernie in NH, and a squeaker by Hillary in Nevada, a state that was supposed to be her firewall and a state in which she led by double digits just two weeks ago, clearly showing her numbers are eroding.
Aside from Iowa, which Trump lost to Cruz (although that's still being disputed) Trump has won by large margins, but the Republican nomination is still, according to the media, very much in play.
Seriously, how do the talking heads come up with this? It defies explanation, unless I'm missing something.

(7,499 posts)I was absolutely incredulous! The double standard is appalling. They are trying to select our candidate. I remember in 2008 when they kept shoving Hillary and Rudy down our throats as the inevitable ones.
Looks like the media truly is bought and paid for.

(1,542 posts)...and if Hillary becomes the nominee the "media" will just crank up the volume....
They see the self inflicted cracks in Democratic unity, and are taking full advantage...
Turn off your TV....

You're not missing anything, quite the opposite.
Edited to add: It's all an illusion, truth is Bernie would win handily if they covered his record and the actual issues.

(41,600 posts)a thought -
Clinton needs Bernie OUT so she doesn't have to spend money she doesn't have! She's had to bring in her big guns - dirty money Super Pac because she's not getting enough money from her peon supporters. Her millionaire/billionaire donors aren't going to keep her Super Pac afloat forever and Bernie can access funds - millions - in a few hours from his supporters.
SHE'S BROKE and has been since Iowa. She's having to blow her GE SUPER PAC funds on the Primary. They never planned on Bernie staying in very long, but he's not going anywhere! They need to get him out so she has $$$$$$ for the GE. TOO BAD.
BERNIE is going to be the nominee!

(41,600 posts)I think that's what's going! She's broke and isn't doing well enough for her billionaire sugar daddies to keep filling her coffers. AND....it's only February and we've had only 2 caucuses and 1 primary!
When she starts floating herself loans we'll know how bad it really is.
Bernie raised more money than her in January and as it stands now, he's raised more than her in February too!
PEOPLE POWER! She cannot beat us. We won't let her.

He has a week to change the above numbers
In Iowa, with a week to go, he was behind by 0.6 and they effectively tied
In New Hampshire, with a week to go, he was +18.1 and it finished +22.4
Normally, if there's been steady, good polling, without some significant event, it's unusual to see the polls move more than 6 points in a week. And that's if the candidate is campaigning there. Double that and hope to move the yardsticks 12 pts in all those states .... and in states he's behind in, he still loses all of them.
All he can hope to do is pick up as many delegates as he can.
I strongly suspect she's going to kick the crap out of him on Super Tuesday. He needed to win Nevada to have a chance.

For decades, that actually worked for them. Now it just alienates more and more people, sending them AWAY from the corporate-class media.

(20,214 posts)All journalists want to be the one to break the big story, sometimes so much that they write the story before all the facts are in. It's no surprise to me that the MSM wants to declare Hillary the winner and go out for a beer. Heaven forbid they should have to WORK and continue to cover both campaigns.
It's also possible they're counting on greater access to Queen Hillary if they crown her early.
But so far Bernie and Hillary have 51 delegates each. On Super Tuesday there will be 1004 delegates up for grabs. Considering HRC's lukewarm wins in Iowa and Nevada, and that South Carolina's 59 delegates will be split in some proportion, saying she's she's a sure winner before Super Tuesday is just stupid. Even after Super Tuesday, no one will have the 2383 delegates to secure the nomination, even if HRC had every one of the 712 superdelegates. Bernie said he's staying in the race until the convention, and rightly so.

(28,627 posts)If Bernie had won by this margin they would say he had scraped through and would still be saying that he has no chance. The MSM are basically poking a large hornets nest because the more they do the more fired up we become.

(7,499 posts)I saw the clip here the other day of a crowd in SC marching and carrying Bernie signs, chanting "Bernie's got a vote from me", and the huge crowds that show up for him.
The enthusiasm is certainly on his side. I just don't know how Hillary can pull it off considering the baggage, FBI investigation, pattern of lying and issues of not being trustworthy.

(3,544 posts)Remember it? No coverage, no chance, no way!!! I expected it continue, and it has for the most part. Yes, he is getting more coverage, but no one is talking about how well he's doing. He's damn near tied in delegates. Personally, I'd say that's pretty good, considering the corruptness and the establishment obstruction.
Hey, the revolution had to start somewhere. It started with the primaries and I expect to get better, state by state. The next two to three weeks will tell it all. I hope there is enough of us that are sick and tired of establishment politics and corruption to turn this bus around.
