3. I scanned the thesis you linked to, got to the end, DU searched the first sentence in Appendix A...

And the search results led to Vektor's post; Appendix A is a DU post by Vektor from 2007.

It seemed apparent that it was a DU member, or one time member, and the appendix had all the earmarks of a DU post.

Not that the Doctoral candidate and DU member are one in the same, but the appendix (see p. 253) was definitely posted on DU.

I think it's cool, but I'm not about to read the whole thing!

I can say, from personal experience, that I was kicked off the Freep for espousing an opposing point of view.

If you don't agree with everything they believe, you are not welcome. Opposing points of view are the best to me, because it gives me the opportunity to check myself and make sure that I am correct in my beliefs.
