DU Community Help
Related: About this forumCan you see my avatar?
I use a custom, uploaded gif of a humpback whale on a white background.
I've never had a problem. Recently I needed to reformat and re-install Win 10. Since then I see a 'broken link' message until I go thru the motions of re-upping the icon. Sometimes the avatar shows for me after that, sometimes not.
-I'm using Mullvad VPN, but I did that before the reformat. Maybe DU doesn't recognise it's proxies.
-Browser - Waterfox with several simple add-ons, all OK in the past.
So before I bother EarlG and Elad, it would be helpful to know if this was unique to me or applies to everyone.
Thanks folks

(11,108 posts)Well, not all of it. I see a white background.
Now I see it - it's just REALLY small. I would never identify it as a whale.

(17,180 posts)I tried re-upping the .gif but received a message that can't connect to DU server. Mmmmmm. VPN is now turned off. I might give the boss a heads up.

(55,019 posts)though it is kind of small and I didn't know what it was at first. also I am tired and I am sure my glasses are dirty.
Others said the same. It's standard size.

in your OP.
As noted by others, it is quite small. It looks like a dark squiggle.
I hope you can fix it.

(17,180 posts)It seems to depend on whether the VPN is on or not. I'll get to the bottom of it.
