I hope this is in the correct place, last night I was hacked on twitter.

I spent two hours going in a circle of reset password, email, change password and then the screen changes to a phone number I no longer have, I have done this from 4 different devices, I contacted twitter support, when I hit submit, it would freeze. Then one of my folllowers sent message, luckily was in my email at the time. They said I unfollwed them and they were seeing if I did it on purpose, I did not. I had over 1,000 followers some of them for a couple years.
This morning I gave up and started new account if anyone here followed me my name was Kristin@civicsnerd1, my new name is civicsnerd1@dewsgirlkristin.
If anyone has any advice on what to do about hacked twitter accounts, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm sorry this is so long, thank you.

Restricted your old acct, which is maybe why you couldnt reset password or contact from that acct etc.

They probably saw the suspicious behavior. Hope you get it sorted out! Might want to check your twitter apps too, because that can be a gateway to hacking.

Before it happened. I've never followed any porn, and I check my followers to make sure they aren't trolls. So weird.

Porn bots I noticed sometimes follow, like or rt when youve tweeted something politically under the radar. Dont know whats up with that, but Im sure some of them are part of the putin trump bot team... maybe to push someone (via embarrassment) to delete a tweet or lock their tweets.

Some of the apps used in conjunction with twitter are the ones that could be used for hacking. You would have to go into your settings on twitter to see what apps youve given permission to access your acct. Som are perfectly legit, but some may be not.
