The book trailer Facebook banned because of classical breasts

Pasadena's Prospect Park Books on April 1 published Michal Lemberger's short-story collection inspired by biblical women, After Abel & Other Stories. A short video promoting the book has endorsement blurbs from Rabbi David Wolpe of Sinai Temple; the foreword is by Jonathan Kirsch. But Facebook won't let Prospect Park upload the video because there are artistic images of women's bare breasts here and there.

Publisher Colleen Dunn Bates posts on Facebook: "Can I get a little censorship outrage here?"

Those famous pornographers Botticelli, Klimt, and Durer have offended their delicate Silicon Valley sensibilities. We appealed the rejection, because FB says there's an exception for depicting topless women if it is works of art, but we were denied -- they still seem to think we're peddling porn.

Please feel free to share the short book trailer to help us protest this nonsense. If it gets shared enough, maybe Sheryl Sandberg will take notice.

The video is not only safe for work, it's safe for children. Go figure.

I posted about this book, written by my dear friend Michal, about a month ago. Who knew a book of feminist reinterpretatons of stories from the Hebrew Bible could provoke Facebook like this? I guess even women in antiquity make men lose their shit.

Because the breasts aren't framed for a kind of sexual consumption, but an artistic one? This is truly outrageous.
